    New Trevor Rabin Interview

    Caught up with Trevor today....

We had an in-depth chat about a wide variety of topics including- his new solo retrospective boxed set, "Changes", which includes all four of his pre-Jacaranda solo albums, the future of ARW/Yes, the unfinished ARW album, his soundtrack for the new Renny Harlin film "The Misfits", his new (vocal) solo album that is about halfway done and how he considers it a sort of follow up to Yes' Talk album, the shelved 20 minute 90125 era "epic" called "Time", thoughts on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame night and performance, feelings about another Union-style Yes reunion, scoring for films VS writing rock/pop originals, memorable ARW shows, details on the ARW original song "Fragile", a close look at "Owner of a Lonely Heart's genesis, thoughts on how to properly play "the Owner riff", how Jacaranda could have maybe been a Yes album and much more.

Thank you once again, an interesting listen, even if I don’t quite agree with him about the current Yes.

Great job Sean! You're getting some awesome guests and these are some interesting questions. It's great hearing Trevor get excited when you bring up things like a Dobro guitar! I'm sure he doesn't normally get things like that mentioned. Rock on man! I enjoyed that.

I'm about halfway through this now. Really great, thanks Sean!

I have to agree with him about the current Yes,and love his comparison to Zeppelin. I've always respected them for disbanding when Bonham died.

I thought it was kind of funny that he said 90125 could have been a double album based on all the material they had, but then it took what, 3 years for BG to arrive?

The mention of Enrique Iglesias (he couldn't remember his first name) reminded me of this...

Very good interview. Sean's relaxed but on-point interviewing is really bringing out the best from these musicians. Rabin came across as genuine and honest.

    Great interview Sean..well done!
One thing though...Trevor said that the 90125 epic was on 90124...He seemed pretty sure of himself, but it's definitely not on the release that I have. Anyway, otherwise very interesting and informative!

    I couldn't find it either.

Thank you all for tuning in! I'll be chatting with Bryan Beller, Geoff Downes and Chester Thompson later this month and will post them each here.

Be sure and ask Geoff to offer his thoughts on Trevor's thoughts on the "legitimacy" of the name as well as his picks that just Steve and Alan are legit Yes members now.

I will try and find a way to articulate that without that scandalous tinge implied there.

Truth be told, Trev was a little out of it because of all the smoke in LA and probably wasn't thinking clearly, so I wouldn't read much into any verbiage or omissions. I edited out a lot of coughing and he even admitted the smoke was getting to him.

Full honesty, I'd be most interested to hear a new TR album before an ARW or Yes album at this point. Jacaranda was terrific, creative and full of fire, ideas and energy. That little bit aside, he also frankly strikes me as the one who has the LEAST concern over trying to "be" Yes.

It's just kind of that chuckle for me..."yeah I didn't really think we should try and be Yes BUT ALSO THE OTHER BAND ISN'T REALLY YES EITHER I DIDN'T SAY OTHERWISE." Like Anderson and/or Brian Lane have incriminating photos or something.

Thanks, Bob! I appreciate that. It's like we've all read so many interviews with many of these artists I always thought, "If I had a chance to chat with ________, I wouldn't ask the same old stuff". Nice to have a chance to make that happen.

Another great interview. Trevor was really chatty: lots of interesting titbits.*

Thanks, Henry. It's nice to have an opportunity to speak directly to some of the artists we've discussed here for years and years. It's also nice to cut to the chase and skip the speculation that is basically the core of so many music forums on the net.

And then to generate fuel for some new speculation! ;-)

nice interview. hope he and Roger Hodgson get together again and record.
i didn't blame Roger for walking away from the thought of being in Yes.

These shows are so great. Really enjoyed the Billy Sherwood, Trevor Rabin, Jakko, and Dug Pinnick interviews.

I'm hoping maybe the Glass Hammer fellas may be coming down the pike at some point.

Wonderful interview Sean, I've been enjoying all of the one's you've posted.
I'm a big Trevor Rabin fan, so it was nice hearing some of his history directly from him, and I'm really looking forward to his new album.

    Thanks again for doing these.
