I didn't pay much attention to the previous dates other than the ones in my area, NY/NJ/PA, so im not sure how the upcoming set of tour dates compare to the last ones or whether they're hitting new areas or not, but l seen the show in NJ last April and they're doing two NJ dates in July and August. As for the setlist, yeah normally I'd figure on the same show but they're kicking off the tour with four shows at Levon Helm studios in Woodstock,NY, 3 of them are rehearsal shows, so whether those are just to rehearse the same songs or because they're trying new one's is what I'm wondering, l guess we'll see in a few weeks. I was hoping to find out something sooner so l can decide to purchase tickets without waiting too much longer
^ Under that scenario, it sounds like a revamped setlist is a possibility.
New music video for "Now":
And a new video promo for the next leg of the 3-year tour:
The first date on the tour is July 24th, so you probably won't be able to find out if the setlist has changed before then. Yes, there are some new locations/venues on this next leg of the tour but more or less it's the same overall trajectory. I've heard comments that this tour will continue off and on for more than a year or two, in various places around the globe, and yes he has mentioned adding some big pieces to the setlist in future years. Given all of that, I would expect this new leg of the tour will largely be the same setlist as the spring. If he continues with this band and they come back to the States in 2020, by then I would think a good chunk of the setlist will have changed. That's all speculation, of course, but it seems likely given band rehearsal times and whatnot.
Now up on the Jon A youtube channel - the Making of 1000 Hands - 17 videos of various musicians recording their parts for the album: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis..._jhhzcQw9XSynE
The JA camp is claiming that the vinyl is now available.
Can anyone out there confirm?

Received "1000 Hands" in the mail about two weeks ago and put it aside as I was going on vacation. Today I picked it up and put it in my CD player. I will say that it is much better than I had hoped for. Jon hasn't released much that appealed to me in years. I liked this record quite a lot. I would say if you are on the fence get it if you can. I understand it might be hard to find if they have sold out.
I bought this album at the show last week, and have had chance to give it several listens. I think this might be the best solo album Jon has done. I really like it a lot. After seeing his band live, they really compliment Jon's writing. A lot of this album reminds me a bit of "The Ladder" from Yes which is one also I really like. I have purchased many of Jon's solo albums over the years, and have had mixed reactions to most of them, but "1000 Hands" is really clicking with me.
Here's a brand new interview with Jon and concert overview from the show in Boulder this past week. Simply put, one of the best concerts I've ever experienced. If you live on the West Coast of the States, I certainly hope you go to the show this coming week. Not to be missed!

It sounds like he's mostly refining and perfecting the show they've been doing from the start. Apparently he's still doing the "cheat sheet" joke from the very first shows, for example, along with a lot more of the same patter from show to show, which is hardly unusual.
I wouldn't mind seeing the show again, actually, but even better would be a new tour with a new setlist and the same band, settled in and working even more organically. For Jon to hold it together for another iteration and tour would be miraculous, and I would buy those tickets instantly.
Strange Times! As much as I Loathe adding to a JA / Yes thread......I have found myself in the VIP Section of tonight’s FREE Concert of JA at the Ilani Casino in Woodland, WA. Meet & Greet done. I’m a fan of some of Jon’s work but not a fanboy. Will give my impression later tonight.

This show is up on sugarmegs.. the taper says pretty much the same thing.. great show.. pity the recording is marred by over zealous fan yelling behind him..

It was an Ok night. It sounded like JA was performing with a competent Cruise Ship Band. (NOT a Prog Cruise band) No real virtuoso playing but the Bass and Drummer were solid. It's been mentioned earlier about Jon's "spacey" gibberish when introducing band members.....I guess he isn't all that sensitive to folks being recognized for their labors by At Least remembering or properly pronouncing their names. I imagine those eight members feel very fortunate for getting this gig and it would have been neat to get their names out to the audience. No 1000 Hands CD's at the Merch. Table..... But $30.00 baseball hats and $85.00 hoodies.
See the above post from Boulder, CO a couple days earlier for the setlist / photos.
I'm glad I went....but my life hasn't changed because of it....IMHO, YMMV

Saw the show in Napa last night can't say I was too blown away. the band is certainly competent but I found when they really all got going it didn't add up to me.
I rather liked the quieter times but america in particular was a bit of a train wreck for me.
also I wasn't expecting much but even so I was underwhelmed with the setlist. Same old yes stuff (well america was kinda surprise but ya) I liked the new stuff allright but I have not been able to get the new album yet.
love state of independence but the arrangement wasn't really ideal imho.
i don't get why he won't revisit earlier albums yes he played a bit of olias but other than that i don't think he has played any tracks from his earlier albums at all since their original tours. felt like this band coulda done song of seven really nicely or animation. friends of mr cairo would be cool too.
dunno not unhappy i went but I had higher hopes for finally seeing Jon with a band but overall I preferred the simple Jon solo shows from a few years back.

Ya, "Song of Seven" would have been an amazing opportunity with this line-up.
He seems to want to split the set up between the new material (can't blame him for that) and Yes music, with a few solo/J&V hits like "State of Independence" thrown in to round things out. As that recent interview shows, this time around he's OK with throwing the hard core fans a bone with the Olias tunes in the setlist, but overall he doesn't seem to want to dig too deeply into his solo catalog for fear it'll alienate the audience who just know him as the singer from Yes.
But I agree -- a missed opportunity. I'm thinking of the YT videos of his solo band from 1980 that included Morris Pert and Dick Morrissey. They did some really cool things with his Song of Seven material as well as the vintage Yes stuff. His current band is kind of a throwback to that era IMO, but he's pulling his punches with them. Maybe the next time around he'll feel more secure in stretching out with them. That is, if it all holds together that long.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.
It's sad to see these musical legends getting older and performing in the shadows of their former greatness. In the last few years I've seen Jon, Robert Plant, Donald Fagen, and it's just a very sad thing to see how aging takes from them so much over time. That being said, it's wonderful he is still getting out there and performing for music fans nearly 50 years after his prime time with Yes. Like George Harrison said, "All things Must Pass".
