“Remember, if it doesn't say "Cuneiform," it's not prog!” - THE Jed Levin
Any time any one speaks to me about any musical project, the one absolute given is "it will not make big money". [tip of the hat to HK]
"Death to false 'support the scene' prog!"
please add 'imo' wherever you like, to avoid offending those easily offended.
one of the Bottom Line shows I'll never forget is The Sun Ra Arkestra
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?
My most fun memory of a show at Iridium (I'm thinking now it's 53rd, not 51st) was when Stefan Dimle from Landberk was visiting NYC with a friend, and we hung out and had lunch in the East Village, then walked to the west side - it was a freezing cold winter night, and they weren't quite prepared for it. I was used to it though, and it was a fun walk. I guess we must have taken the subway uptown then, and we went and saw Bill Bruford's Earthworks at Iridium. It was nice to get into that cozy club, and Bruford came over and chatted with us for a minute, and Stefan gave him a copy of the first Patos CD. Pretty cool night.
Marshall was really "on" Friday night, based on the video feed. He started a little slow but Taliesin warmed him up big time. He laid down a great groove for Gesolreut. Truly sorry he is not scheduled to be on the tour for the Midwest.
And... nice to learn what Ge sol re ut really means. I have actually pondered that and even tried Googling it but only as a single word. Got nothing. When you Google it as four words, it does come up!
