According to the their FB page, Gavin Harrison has been announced as their full time drummer. Great PR for Bruce and company.
Any thoughts from thought from my fellow proggers!!!!!

For Gavin it's probably manageable from a time commitment standpoint, plus there's a connection musically to Porky Tree which I think Gavin enjoyed being a part of. But this is definitely a coup for Bruce Soord.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.
TPT is a band I've been trying to get for years. They have a few tracks I enjoy on each album, and I quite like the 3000 days retrospective. However I think they have yet to make a major album-length work. I thought GH's joining might give their music a bit more punch but was left quite unimpressed with Your Wilderness. How does the new one compare?

Still waiting for the new one, but the live album with GH is excellent. Best thing they’ve done in a few years. (Not a fan of Magnolia.)
I think this is good news. How can more GH be bad?
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.
I'm really happy for Bruce, this is huge in my opinion.

The new album is an ideal entry point for anyone, it's a strong disc. Bruce feels like it's a new band now, he's got a lot of energy for where they're going!
And speaking of where they're going...a US Tour is a definite possibility for next year.
Here's an interview I did with Bruce about a month ago discussing all of this and much more (transcribed and audio available):

And an album review of the new one, "Dissolution":

I haven't heard the new one yet, but your comments about the lack of diversity could pretty much apply to every TPT album I've heard. If Harrison's presence can't address this issue (it didn't on the previous album, and apparently doesn't on this one), I don't know what will.
Still it's great that the band keeps getting new fans and that Soord persists in his artistic vision after all those years.
Not just a Genesis fanboy.
Hell, in all seriousness I read this to mean that they stole the drummer from Glass Hammer...
I'm not lazy. I just work so fast I'm always done.
I read your interview. Gavin is a huge draw in the states. Ppl will come!!!!

This is cool news. Nothing against their old drummer, but to me Harrison brings this band to a different level.
Who is the drummer on "The Final Thing on My Mind"? I really like that song, and the drums definitely add to it.
This is a band I've tried to get into, but just can't. I love Gavin Harrison though...maybe I'll try again.

Really liked that last disk with Gavin. The stuff before is hit or miss for me.
No slight intended to PT, but why would Gavin commit to this? His star is obviously rising...
Why wouldn't he commit to it? It's not like they tour 200 days a year, and I'm sure they agreed to work around his Crim touring. The chance to work with a band who's music he likes and be able to contribute to compositions. Sounds like a great gig to me.
BTW - I really liked their last disc with Gav, and the live DVD/CD package is a good document of the band.
