    RIP Tomasz Stanko

Just saw the news. Most of what I have seen so far is in Polish, so details are short. Thanks for all the great music!

Sorry to hear of his passing. Rest in peace, Mr. Stanko.

Not a lot of details in the Polish articles I've seen either. Apparently he was ill in recent times. Looks like he died of cancer.

    Here's a really nice set from 2011

A great talent for over 50 years, starting with the wonderful K. Komeda.
Saw Stanko and band about 15 years ago and they were as wonderful as I could have hoped for

Interesting that the band had both electric and upright bass. Different sound too from this group, hard to pin down stylistically. Great player.

For those interested, an interview I did with Tomasz back in 2004. Tomasz Stańko: Lyricism and Liberation (the photo is one I shot when I saw him at the Molde Jazz Festival in 2009, with the Dark Eyes Quintet).
