The other day a friend of mine asked if I ever ordered from Wayside?
So I compiled a list using my order history and sent it to him.
It was fun to do and it brought back some memories of what was going on in my life when I ordered those.
From 1998 to 2007 I was a casual Magma fan and I had one or two before 2008. The studio box set change that all.
I'm not sure why I did the history in reverse order.

All my CD&DVDs bought directly from Wayside Music

    20. Dun - Eros (expanded / remastered)
Thinking Plague - In This Life (25th anniversary remaster)
    Happy Family - Minimal Gods
    19. Magma - Zess (CD in media book)
    18. Magma - Emehntehtt-Re Trilogy 2 x DVDs
    Hammill, Peter - Live in Berlin 1992 : 2 x CDs + DVD
Van der Graaf Generator - Do Not Disturb
    17. Marillion - marillion.com (digi-book edition / remixed
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Visions Of The Emerald Beyond
    16. Badger - One Live Badger
    King Crimson - Thrak 40th Anniversary CD + 5.1 / hi-res DVD-A
15.5 Magma - Köhnzert Zünd --- Xmas present ordered by my wife...as long as I promised I would never listen around her.
    15. Pink Floyd - The Endless River (expanded casebook edition) CD + CD + 5.1 / hi-res DVD-A
    14. Anekdoten - Until All The Ghosts Are Gone
    13. Present - Le Poison Qui Rend Fou (expanded / remastered) 2 x CDs
Present - Triskaidekaphobie (expanded / remastered)
    Yes - Close To The Edge CD + 5.1 / hi-res DVD-A (remixed / expanded / remastered)
    12. Family - Anyway (expanded)
    Family - Bandstand (expanded) (special)
    Family - Entertainment
    Family - Fearless
Family - Music in a Doll's House (expanded)
    11. Magma - Mythes Et Legendes: Epok V DVD
    10. Anglagard - Viljans Öga
    9. Magma - Felicite Thosz
    8. Vander, Christian - John Coltrane l'Homme Supreme
    7. Univers Zero - Heresie (expanded / remixed / remastered)
    6. Univers Zero - Clivages
    5. Magma - Emehntehtt Re
    4. Vander, Christian - Un Homme...Un Batterie DVD
Van der Graaf Generator - Live at the Paradiso DVD
    3. Magma - Mythes et Legends Volume Four DVD
Magma - Mythes et Legends Volume Three DVD
    Shub Niggurath - Introduction
    Offering - Magma Presente Offering
One Shot - Dark Shot CD + DVD
3.5 Univers Zero - Univers Zero (expanded / remixed / remastered)...some reason it's not in my history?
    3. Univers Zero - Relaps: Archives 1984-1986 ...First time I realized I couldn't call Brandon and talk to him about an album.
    2. Magma - Studio Zund (10 album set (12 discs) in digipacks - each with booklet ...one of the last things I talked to my friend Brandon about before he died
    1. Anekdoten - A Time of Day
    Univers Zero - Heresie T-shirt

First Order was on 5/10/2007 (before that, I worked at a store that ordered direct from wayside or did orders with another friend)
    Newest order was on 7/2/2020

Probably not a lot compared to some.
    Anyone else wanna share?

I don't remember what year I started buying stuff from Wayside, but I think it started circa 1993 or 1994 (holy crap, I've been buying stuff from Steve for more than 25 years?!)

I started in either 2005 or 2006 and the list would be way too long to post here.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

That would be a very interesting list to see.
Mine is very Magma/Univers Zero related ...but my last order Dün,Thinking Plague & Happy Family kind of break that up a bit...kinda?

  9. #234
I've been buying from Wayside since 1988. Or maybe it was 1987. Kind of hard to remember exactly.
I think I first got their catalog way back in 1985. Sill wish I had it.
Somewhere stashed away I've some later ones from the 1990's though I'm not sure exactly where that stash is located!

Anyone remember the main catalog printed on green paper and the updates on white paper?

That's my opinion as well. I reckon I've ordered over 600 albums from Wayside and very happy with the vast majority of them.

I knew my list would pale in comparison to most order histories.

I wish I would have bought two of the studio Zund Magma boxes, but not to make a profit, I knew a guy who really wanted it and they were going for $350 at the time he was looking and I wished I had an extra to get him

Somewhere in there, I also distinctly remember buying most of the Djam Karet catalog from Steve at NEARfest 2001 (and buying hard copies releases of their subsequent releases from him), as well as most of the Heldon/Richard Pinhas catalog, a couple of the Mujician albums, and I forget all what else. Oh yeah, and there was also my copy of CHarles Mingus' Tijuana Moods (on the packing slip with my order, he wrote "Alright! Mingus! Enjoy!").

I've also got quite a few other Cuneiform releases I've bought from other people. This includes
Cartoon: Sortie (bought, second hand, back in 1993, possibly my first Cuneiform purchase)
Heldon: Allez Teia (which was either my first or second Cuneiform purchase, I thin, this time new)
    Arkham
    Muffins: Chronometers
Gary Windo: His Master's Bones (which I ended up buying, after more than a decade of hesitation, because I heard his version of Dumb Waiters on Pandora, circa 2008, or whenever it was)

Your orders are a lot more wide ranging than mine, but I do have a lot of local stores I buy from and do special orders.
I think Cartoon "Sortie" was one of the first cuneiform cd I had too, but have to buy it again.
Did you get the remix of Univers Zero heresie? I like it, but think the bass is mixed too low

  14. #239
Mmm, I knew I forgot something, I missed an order from about 2018, which included:

Blind Lemon Jefferson: The Complete Recordings
    Taj Mahal: First album
Mississippi John Hurt: Avalon Blues: The Complete 1928 Okeh Recordings

I have to thank Steve for reigniting my interest in blues music. I started with the Blind Wille McTell, and that's sent me down another rabbit hole, listening to Blind Lemon Jefferson, Mississippi John Hurt, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Freddie King, etc.

And another item I forgot was a Stephen Scott CD I bought back in the 90's, Minerva's Web, The Tears of Niobe. I remember buying that because I saw Scott on the old RIpley's Believe Or Not show back in the 80's, and he also had a track on a Keyboard magazine soundpage focused on "Experimental music". I'm sure I got that from Wayside also.

And the verseion of Hersie I have is the one with the bonus track, I suppose that must be the remix. How different is from th eoriginal?

The mix is really different. The bass is really present in the original

    Hello Dave!
This is part of the email that I received this Friday 03:

    - How The GLITCH Stole $5.00 Friday. -

"...right now, there is a odd technical glitch on the back-end / control area of BandCamp. I am no techie, but it seems to be a problem with BandCamp itself and not with us.
This tech issue will prevent us from bringing you $5.00 Friday until it is resolved. I have submitted a help ticket but it hasn't been resolved yet.
We wanted you to know what was going on and that we have not abandoned $5.00 Friday. I hope we see you with all resolved next week.

    Thank you."

    Regards,
    Tomás.

Thanks for your memories. The tech issue is resolved. $5.00 Friday lives again. See if you can figure out the reference to B.L.M. 20 years before there was a B.L.M. movement on this Friday's album!

Another item I remember buying from Wayside music is Richard Leo Johnson's Fingertip Ship, after reading about him in Guitar Player, and then Steve got a stash, I think after the album had gone out of print. I seem to recall a blurb on the website saying it was going for much more in other places.

Gosh, I don't think I started ordering form Wayside until... 2013, even though I already had some Cuneiform titles in my library. I was way late to the party.

Been trying to make up for it ever since.

I had my orders spread out over the years, but since July 2nd I've made 4 orders. I did another tonight, and my 3rd order should be here tomorrow!

I shouldn't have gotten back into ZEUHL and RIO ...oh wait, yes I should! It's retail therapy!

    Fools Meeting by Delivery.

    Done!

"This reissues a very rare 1970 album, out of print for at least 45 years, which was the first professional band by musicians who would soon find fame in a number of other bands:

    Steve Miller-piano (Caravan)
Phil Miller-guitar (Matching Mole, Hatfield & The North, National Health)
    Roy Babbington-bass (Nucleus, Soft Machine)
Pip Pyle-drums (Gong, Hatfield & The North, National Health)
    Carol Grimes-vocals
    Lol Coxhill-sax."

Has it as a cdr ... finally, I´m happy, so happy!.
