Transmit: Vol. 2 of The Music of Steve Lacy by Ideal Bread.

"Like a baker makes his bread, I make music...If I make the same bread tomorrow, that bores me...I have to remake it, I have to do better...I’m always looking for...the ideal bread.” – Steve Lacy, April, 1976.

If I didn't already have it on CD, I'd be all over this.

Great disc! And the cover artwork is lovely.

I can never decide if I prefer March or Smoke Signals. Every time I choose one, I relisten to the other and am forced to change my mind.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

Never let good music get in the way of making a profit.

Matching Mole were a great band. What's your favorite album and song by them, if you can narrow it down?

    I hear you.

It's hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to choose just one it would be their first one, the self-titled studio album. It's hard to top songs like "Oh Caroline", "Instant Kitten", and "Part of the Dance".

Agree and yes, I tend to do the same here including the "live efforts" and from time to time, I come back to: "On The Radio .. A BBC Recording" … a really nice collection/archive too IMO!.

    Gang,
    Why am I buying this?.

I have some of his works/projects but "Skull Sessions" is something special because (IMO):

-"Skull Sessions combines two of Rob's groups: Sao Paulo Underground and Starlicker with additional personnel."

-"The big bang that led to Skull Sessions detonated when the We Want Miles exhibition at SESC Sao Paulo requested that Mazurek devise a presentation related to his deep affinity for the music of Miles Davis. In characteristic fashion, he decided against recreating any of Davis’s music, instead composing new pieces and rearranging earlier works for the Octet’s particular personalities and unusual timbres."

So, here we go with another "killer-essential" álbum. (IMO).

^ I"ll admit, Paris 72 is probably my least favorite of these archival Softs releases (it's by no means bad of course), but it does give a glimpse into a fairly unusual time period in the Softs' history, so I'm certainly happy to have it.

Good band, I don't have that one but I have everything else, I've now rectified that gap.
