Thread: Forthcoming Tull / Ian Anderson releases

It's not entirely psychological, IMO. If Martin Barre isn't there, it's not Jethro Tull. He made creative contributions to the music, and he has his own sound. Ian Anderson has clearly made this distinction himself, as he has released several solo albums over the last 30 years - some of which sound similar to the music of Jethro Tull - the common thread being that Martin Barre didn't contribute anything to them.

As far as these new releases go, I don't personally have any interest in Steve Wilson's messing around with recordings that already sound fine, unless there's material on them that has not previously been released.

I'm not interested, for the first time on new IA releases. I've had enough of Florian Opale's guitar sound, and playing as well. And IA's current rhythm section is the worst he ever worked with.

Why do we have to wait until 2014 for this? The 40th anniversary of APP is this year. Oh well, I guess I have the APP remix and new Yes album to look forward to.

Makes little sense to me either, but with the promise of the Zappa Roxy DVD this year, I'm content to wait.

You'll have to pardon a cynical old man who's been drooling over the prospect of a Roxy video ever since The True Story of 200 Motels appeared in 1989 with that tantalizing snippet of "Dummy Up," and who has suffered so many years of fake-outs from the ZFT, and who has built the thing up in his mind as such a Holy Grail that there's no way it could possibly live up to expectations by this point...

There's no need to apologize. I get it.

Thanks for that Triscuits. I've never heard this before, but I'd sure like a decent recording of it!

Yeah, do tell! I skipped this tour, and I kind of regret it - I like TAAB2 and it's been about six years now since I last saw Ian/Tull. Not to mention the solid reviews this tour has been garnering. Ahh well.
