New Steve Tibbetts album "Life Of" coming May 18th

News of a new Tibbetts album is always a thrill for me. The one thing that worries me a bit is the part of the description that says this will be a sequel of sorts to his last album, "Natural Causes". While I feel it's an excellent album, it literally put me to sleep the first few times I listened to it (well, it WAS very late at night). I prefer his albums that have a mixture of loud and quiet pieces, and "Natural Causes" is pretty much all quiet, without much of the usual percussion and without any electric guitar. https://www.ecmrecords.com/catalogue/1518772047

Looks promising. No nun this time, a plus for me.

ECM cover art is always cool, but this one takes the cake!

Gotta say, that is some seriously intriguing artwork. Very eerie and mysterious. I'm in!

Oh yeah, the music is probably pretty good too.

All I have is "Exploded View" , "Big Map Idea" and "The Fall of Us All". I guess I'm way behind here, but would like comments on this new album

That's the first track on the new album; sounds a lot like his last album. Not much happening.

Bought this yesterday. Sure enough, very similar to his last album "Natural Causes". A very good album, taken on its own merits, but even when percussionist Marc Anderson is playing, the tempo is very slow. Melodies are in short supply, and not a lot of the effects he usually adds to the instruments. So, a sort of positive/negative review from me. I really hope his next album moves off in a new direction.

Got it as well, knew what to expect...it's certainly mellow but also lovely. IMHO he'd been moving in this direction for a while now.

(FWIW my fave ST is Man About a Horse)
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Best CD cover of the year so far... Too bad Yes ft. ARW couldn't have done a cover like that!

    Bought it! Love it!
The album is a mind journey. Best heard while relaxing in low light. Great production, I felt that “in the room” experience.
