    'If you like Genesis ...............'

' ......try "Fingal's Cave". If you like Genesis, trust me. You'll love Mendelssohn'

From The Music Shop, p. 7, a novel by Rachel Joyce.

So I did. And how right she is!

By the way, this was said by the music shop-owner to a guy who had just stolen Invisible Touch. The owner didn't mind he had stolen a Genesis-album, but thought he had choosen the wrong one. Reminds me of Kevin Gilbert at the start of the Giraffe performance of The Lamb at Progfest 1994.

Sadly I just couldn't empathize with any of the characters in The Music Shop and gave up on the novel before I got halfway. My copy now resides in a charity shop and I hope someone finds more enjoyment in it than I did.

Just finished the book. I can imagine Iris gave up on the novel (it contains some weird characters), but I've enjoyed it quite a bit. But I think it's a pitty that the music-side was more and more overruled by the love-story and the need for a Hollywood-like happy end.
Nice to see b.t.w. that the author thanks Gabrielle Drake (amongst others). Her brother Nick is mentioned a couple of times in the story.
