I don't know the exact date, but I have beside me the June 5, 1976 issue of Melody Maker, which has a whimsical half page ad for the album ("out now on Virgin Records") with the following text, in an assortment of typefaces:

    POT HED PIXIES NEVER DIE!
BUT THEY SURE LIKE A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP...
teapot fly-ers and planit gong spotters
    REJOICE!
An end to the year long yawn
    DOWN IN THE SPANISH ISLES
    SOMETHING STIRS
    COULD IT BE A SPOON?
    You may well ask...
    wot's for breakfast?
    BERTIE CAMEMBERT SAYS
    TOUGH CHEESE
for them rusty ole cynics & php bashers
    but for everyone else
    a hotte buttered toast to
    DAEVID ALLEN'S FIRST LP
    SINCE GONG

    simply say
    good morning!
    and you'll get it...WITH EUTERPE
    GOT IT?
Many people nowadays take marmalade instead.

A very nice album. Children Of The New World, in particular, I always thought was a beautiful song, right from the first time I saw him play it on the Twelve Selves tour back.

It seems to me like I remember seeing Good Morning (on Virgin?), on CD, back in the early or mid 90's, but for whatever I reason I never picked it up on at the time, and I'm not sure why, other than the fact that maybe at the time I wasn't sure if I'd like Daevid's solo records. I guess I kinda expected them to be a bit "singer/songwriter" (and they are, sort of), but there's enough other musical elements to keep him from being mistaken for some lame MOR artist. Dan Fogelberg or James Taylor, this isn't.

The thing that confuses me is, since I always liked Children Of The New World, I can't imagine why I would pass up this album at any time, unless it was before I saw the Twelve Selves show (which was August 1992, I wanna say).

Whatever happened to Euterpe? Did they ever do anything else?
