    Mitch Murder ~ Selection 5

【keal】 I never knew about Mitch Murder until I clicked on this album. POW! Now I own Selections 1 through 5. Like Pokemon. just gotta get 'em all! This is hot, fresh and tasty music. A track featuring Satellite Young, the best! Favorite track: Time Paradox (feat. Satellite Young).

Future 80's Records: An amazing collection of tracks from the synth legend Mitch Murder. Vibrant and nostalgic a no brainer purchase for any retrowave fan! Congrats! Favorite track: Refresh.

Francis Kimberley: if you don't love this you're wrong Favorite track: Rad Flute.

XARGON: Holy crap Mitch Murder has outdone himself again with this brilliant production. The Line is simply stunning, and Taken has some seriously groovy atmosphere. The quality of sound here would be hard to beat. The composition itself consists of the usual attention to detail and a level of raw creativity that few synth artists could hope to match. Funky as hell! Favorite track: Taken.

I haven't seen the whole movie, but it was quite popular on Youtube...oh and I noticed the ending credits, seems to have revived David Hasslehoff's career!

2018 was a breakout year for popwave music, as the style overtook the classic sounds of synthwave in terms of its overall quality and its popularity with fans. Artists like The Midnight, Nina, Timecop1983, Moonrunner83, and numerous others continued incorporating influences from modern mainstream music into synthwave and adding contemporary vocal stylings for a fresh sound.

The decision to put these albums in their own category is rooted in a firm belief in the importance of music genres, and this list recognizes and appreciates the stylistic experimentation these artists embrace as they shift away from synthwave and into a bold new style of music. SYNTHLOVERS Rejoice!!

OUTLAND PRESENTS: DANA JEAN PHOENIX, KALAX, LEBROCK

    LONDON: Zigfrid von Underbelly

    THU 18TH APR, 2019 7:30pm

The Outland team kick off the Easter bank holiday weekend in style with a powerhouse synthwave triple-header, featuring Canadas Dana Jean Phoenix, Kalax and Lebrock. Outland will also be spinning the best of classic and current synth and retrowave in between and after the 3x live performance sets, and as always, expect amazing retro synth visuals accompanying each artist performance.

Date: Thursday 18 April 2019 (Friday is a bank holiday)
    Time: Doors 730PM to 1AM
Place: Zigfrid von Underbelly, Hoxton Square, Shoreditch, London,*
Tickets: 15 adv, 20 on the door

Dana Jean Phoenix has gained a following in the international synthwave scene, collaborating with production heavyweights like Gost, Perturbator, Nightcrawler Music, Highway Superstar and Sunglasses Kid. Her original music has been featured on The Voice(US) and her collaboration with Dutch dreamwave artist Timecop1983 'Dreams (Feat. Dana Jean Phoenix)', was featured in the Netflix original films 'You Get Me' and 'Coin Heist' and the PS4/PC game 'Crossing Souls'.

Dana's latest album, 'PixelDust' is available on iTunes & Bandcamp, and features production from Powernerd, Mecha Maiko, Till Wild, Straplocked, FAVORIT89, Satori in Bed, MikeGyver, and Patrick Gill.

"Synthwave royalty Dana Jean Phoenix...has just released the exquisite PixelDust."-Vehlinggo
"Phoenix has the attitude and funk of the eighties brought into the modern age..." -Brutal Resonance

Kalax is the most talked about synthwave artist on message boards, NRW posts and among artists. This elusive character started writing 80s movie influenced and cinematic scored soundscapes in 2013 and theres no wonder he is the go-to guy for UK synth promoters and festivals since then. There are whispers of a new LP out this year this legendary purveyor of true synthwave is bound to play a bounty of old and new tunes.

And then, hailing from Peterborough, LeBrock are the 'Foo Fighters' of Synthwave. Complimenting an energy-packed set with a visual palette of all things awesome 80s, this dynamic duo will retro-rock your socks off! Upbeat melodic anthems with some electric guitar and woven together over retro synthesizers, they will have you singing along and jumping up and down on the dance floor.
Put on your college jacket, roll up your sleeves and get ready for the ride of your life!

Travel: The venue is closest to Old Street Station, which is on the 24hr Northern Line, so theres no worries on home or hotel travel after midnight!

two words from me: CARPENTER BRUT.

just saw them (well, him, he’s french producer patrick hueso) at ArcTanGent in the UK (replete with full metal band ensemble) and they completely destroyed. plus, they served up a nice, gentle reminder that i did in fact grow up in the 1980s and dodgy DX-7 sounds, gated reverb style drums, simmonds pads and fake funk bass patches matching pulp horror film flicks (think john carpenter and dario argento) and “outrun” style video game aesthetic seem to be part of my DNA. hence, very receptive to this by design, not by default

check out “trilogy”, a compilation of CB’s first three indie E.P.s. amazing stuff.

Yep...Carpenter Brut is absolutely amazing, both on disc and stage. Did they open by leading in from Toto's Africa? They did that for the slot opening for Ministry and it was AMAZING.

And if you haven't seen this yet...it's coming and soon! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qisX76lABk0

no idea … i arrived at the stage when they were already a bit into their set (lured by the siren’s call, so to speak) – but they did close with a breakneck rendition of “maniac” (michael sembello, from the old “flashdance” flick). couldn’t have been more appropriate. on a sidenote. MESHUGGAH headlined two days later and they had FOREiGNER’s seminal “i want to know what love is” on the P.A. before their set. quite the sight to have 5.000 nerdcore people sing along in very high volume indeed before that gig.

must see that movie. thank you, sir.

OH YES...Manic has been their default encore/closer for a couple of years now and it NEVER fails to put a smile on my face. They are just so much fun.
