Any chance of these guys working on a follow up?

I can't get enough of Weiss and this project was pretty fun.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

There is a second one that was scheduled for this year, IIRC. Did COVID change that? Dunno.

    Excellent, thanks.

And true...but even if it has been delayed by COVID I'm glad they have decided to keep the ensemble together.

It's killer... I really love it.

I think it's completely amazing, almost like a dreamband of Naked City-gone-full-RIO.

And it's got that feeling of joy at playing to it which almost none amongst the "academic" nú-jazz/rock folks display anymore. Norwegian ensemble Red Kite has it too, and to a bit lesser extent (IMO) Fire! Orch.

There's a sort of looseness to it that's also unusual for music of that type. It's as if maybe the tunes weren't more than sketches, and every time they play one they play it a bit different. Or as if Dan Weiss wrote very specific parts - but was OK with it if the band didn't nail them, so long as they either got the concept or improved upon it. Contrast that with, say, Animals as Leaders, who can probably play almost as well, but who also sound like every note is locked down and perfect. You can also tell that Weiss & Co. recorded it like a jazz band, with everybody in the room doing full live-band takes.

It'll be great to hear what he does for a follow-up.

I might have enjoyed that more than anything on the previous album. I'll try to keep my expectations down, but I'm very much excited to hear this one.

    excellent news.

Got my pre-order last week, and so far digging it a lot. Weiss says in the liner notes that the band worked the new compositions quite a lot on tour before heading into the studio and it really shows, IMO. The recording quality is excellent, although there are moments when I could use a little more of Monder in the mix. Small quibble.
