Just got an e-mail from the Band's BC page saying that this compilation is out, containing their first three cassettes.

Speaking of that, I wonder whatever happened to Viima? Two very fine releases from them as well.[/QUOTE]
Viima is still alive and well! They are releasing the first album (Ajatuksia Maailman Laidalta) on vinyl in November and are finishing recording their 3rd album (that will obviously be out in 2019).
I've spun it for a week (both discs), and it's welll along the lines of their latest album
Artwork and booklets are quite amateurish, though

So I've spun the new two disc compilation a couple of times now. Gotta say, I'm glad I bought it. Jordsjo straddle lines between a lot of different approaches, some folky stuff, some Psych stuff, some more overtly Proggy stuff. They don't dazzle with every note (though they do dazzle from time to time, which I appreciate), but they very rarely if ever go off the rails entirely.
Like their third album where I picked them up, I find both these earlier albums pleasant and engaging; a fresh take on sound we've largely heard already, which is fine with me. Recommended to fans of good quality retro-Prog.

There's not many new releases that get me excited anymore but Jordsjo does that for me and The Chronicles Of Father Robin release coming soon which features Hakon from Jordsjo is another.
The Jord Sessions are well worth it in my opinion, I don't know if they have been mentioned yet from 2022. This is basically their first proper studio album "Jord" from 2017 getting a makeover. Remixed and some added instruments plus that over 13 minute bonus track from those sessions and it fits in beautifully and is one of the better tunes. As much as I loved Jord I always felt there was this amateur-like quality, naive maybe is the better word to their sound. Man that gets knocked out with the new one, this just sounds so much better, the original Jord is going in a box somewhere this I my new "go-to" Jord. Just my opinion.

Anekdoten
Pre-ordered the new album yesterday. Didn't know anything about this band until yesterday. Thanks for the info!
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.
I got my preorder copy of the new Jordsjo from Laser's Edge today. I had avoided listening to it on Bandcamp or Spotify for the last few weeks to make sure it sounded "fresh," which it does - it's such a good album. This may be the album I'd suggest if someone came up to me and said "Dude, I really need to get into this Jordsjo but I don't know where to start!"
One funny thing though: There's NO text that's at all readable on the meager booklet or inlay. Funnier still, the jewel case has a sticker on it with the band and album names and they, too, are completely unreadable. It's sort of like the crazy metal band logotypes, where it looks cool but can't be read.
these guys have been churning out albums almost every year (or so it seems), but TBH, their previous real studio release (Pastoralia) sounded a little too much "Karisma" label - ala Seven Impale, Tusmorke or Wobbler (all good names) - and for some reasons, I didn't like it as much as their previous, so it had relatively few spins.
Listening to their latest, I must say that it sounds more Jorsdjesque.

^ Agree. And if you haven't listened to the still pretty new Tusmorke, you should give it a try, I think you might like it. It, too, is a little more "classic, retroprog" than Seven Impale- type stuff.
I was just listening to Salighet for the first time earlier. Very good. I also enjoyed Nattfiolen and Pastoralia. Are they the new Anglagard? Sounds like it but certainly not a clone band.
^ I'm still hoping for the old Anglagard to be the new Anglagard. Pretty sure I recall Mattias saying that they're working on it.
^ Did he ever say they were working on an album, or was it just that they were going to do some live shows? I thought there was work on an album too, but maybe he just led us down the garden path?
I was introduced back in 2020 when I bought Nattfiolen, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I just bought Salighet a couple of days ago, and it renewed my interest. I really don't care if they if they sound, at times, like other bands. That's a ridiculous reason not to like them.
^ It sounds like moecurly remembers something more concrete than that. And I DID think I'd heard something more definite-sounding also, so it's probably not a mass delusion. Also, thanks for posting this video!
Sorry, my comment was not directed at you specifically. It was a general response triggered by many threads on this forum (and others) where, for example, someone says "I don't like Wobbler because they sound too much like Yes. They are just a copycat band". It's a hot button of mine, and I apologize if it made you think you were the trigger. You were not. I need to cut the wires to that button...
