    Falset - James LaBrie's son's band

James LaBrie's son drums in a band named Falset. Not surprisingly, given the kid's influence growing up, they're a metal band. I found two tunes on YouTube and, I have to say, I like them both.

LaBrie's son, Chance, has some pretty good chops on the drums...also not surprising if he's been getting tips from Portnoy and Mangini throughout his life! That's like having Wayne Gretzky teach you how to play hockey. And the singer Mike Julian has a great voice. Although, personally, I could live without the screams on Falling off.

All in all, I think this is a promising young metal band. It's nice to see the next generation spawning. From their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/falsetoff/), it looks like they have an EP coming out shortly as well. I'm looking forward to hearing more.

    As to the name:

    Thelma Todd starts singing.

Chico Marx, at the piano, says, "Ah, you got a high voice."

Thelma: "Why yes, I have a falsetto voice."

Chico: "At'sa funny; my grandma, she'sa gotta falsetta teeth!"
