    Record Store Day 2018

    The list was published yesterday.

Some items among the RSD exclusives that may be of interest to prog fans:

David Bowie - Welcome to the Blackout: Live in London 1978
    Florian Fricke - Mozart
Grateful Dead - Fillmore West 2/27/1969
    Jethro Tull - Moths single
Pink Floyd - Piper at the Gates of Dawn (mono)
Popol Vuh - Messa di Orfeo
    Tangerine Dream - Zeit
    a couple of Zappa items

There is also some other proggy stuff getting a RSD first release (meaning that it will get a general release later on this year).

I’m all over the mono Capitol version of Lumpy Gravy. I like it much more than the original release

The only one I see listed is the Lumpy Gravy/Primordial release that was pushed back from Black Friday RSD.

    don't forget about steven Wilson!

also UK debut is apparently coming out with a 6 page booklet, though it isn't all that hard to find a original of that so seems limited interest.

also in the who needs it category a picture disc of yes Tormato everyones favorite cover art.

Don't know how I missed this earlier. I must have this. Piper is my favorite Floyd album and the mono mix is preferable in my opinion.

Hoping to grab a copy of Merzbow, Mats Gustafsson, Thurston Moore, Balazs Pandi - Cuts Up, Cuts Out. I enjoyed the studio album they did a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it's listed as one of the limited run/region releases at only 600 copies.

I hate that they release so many picture discs. Do people actually care about these? And it seems every metal album for RSD is a picture disc...Celtic Frost, Mastodon, Motorhead, Kreator, Morbid Angel...

The Curved Air one makes sense; that was a picture disc on its original release. Who's going to buy the Fawlty Towers picture disc?

There are some different releases in the U.K. Vs. USA. Tears for Fears have (2) releases in the U.K. while the U.S. sees zero.

    Duelling eclipses.

    There is something about Zeit...

Can't quite put my finger on it...

    But, there is much love.
Perhaps finding the happy medium is harder than we know.

Zeit as a single LP? Hopefully that's a typo on the list.

Love this album. Does anyone if there is any difference between what is being released and the 2 record set from the In The Beginning box set?

I'd like the Dead box, but I am probably over $200 with the above four.

But I'm all about the Steven Wilson EP. Can never have too much Andy Partridge.

This is so nuts. Even when I owned a good home cassette player (Onkyo 3-head, HX-Pro, Dolby C) and a Nakamichi TD500 car deck this still wouldn't have been tempting. No commercially released cassette ever sounded as good as the ones I recorded myself, and the only home recorded cassettes I ever heard that rivaled the source it was recorded from was made on high end type-4 metal blank cassettes that are no longer manufactured (AFAIK) and if you can find one still in its original packaging it will cost a small fortune.

I can't say I blame record companies for doing stuff like this when they watch the news and see what complete dupes millennials are. What's next? 8-track? Spring loaded reverb consoles?
