Yep, "johns" are scum and drug addicts deserve our sympathy

but if there are no clients, there is no sex trafficking
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

Kind of like the owner of a golf resort having to bear the responsibility of hiring illegal aliens to work there.

I don't think Moe is suggesting that a John should be held blameless in the act of solicitation. It's just that it's far reaching to blame human trafficking on a guy just because he's willing to pay for sex. There are plenty of prostitutes who voluntarily sell themselves. Are they absolved?

^ on the other hand, you'd think a billionaire would be better connected and more savvy about such things... and I believe he was. I doubt he wandered in or found the parlour on Yelp. The massage parlour in question seems to specialize in a certain "brand". I doubt Kraft is the highest profile name associated with this.

Maybe he is tight with his money and rather drop a few Benny's as opposed to some Grover's. Cha-Ching!

Well, that's pretty simplistic & reductionist. There are undoubtedly thousands of sex trade establishments in this country who provide services without resorting to involvement with human trafficking. This one didn't need to, it chose to, and cost was almost certainly the reason.

If you're going to take such a simplistic approach, I would have thought you'd go back to source and blame yer buddy YHWH for giving us a libido.

Oh and btw, 3LB understood what I was saying.

It was reported early-on (by Schefter, I believe?) that he's not, though I haven't heard any more names yet.

The gift is free will. Adam is to blame for choosing to abuse the gift.

I have heard about raids on "spas" in neighboring counties. A couple years ago, there was a simultaneous raid on a few of them by a joint task force that included the FBI, iirc, in Franklin County, Ohio. None of the women were charged with prostitution. In fact, they had a translator to inform them of that so that they could get their cooperation, since the women who work in these places are too frightened to speak out.

The fact is, it's rare to find a massage parlor - especially the Asian kind - that doesn't use trafficked women.

And as for street walkers or the ones that will meet you at a cheap motel, the vast majority of those are either drug addicts or trafficked women themselves and often both. Trafficking is even getting into the escort business. Hell, I heard a story on the news about a woman arrested for pimping out her pre-adolescent daughter!

Which is why law enforcement is switching tactics. They're going after the customers and the traffickers, not the prostitutes.

But it's also why it's so important to educate people about this issue. For the most part, prostitution is no longer a victimless crime and hasn't been for some time.
