    Albums on your shelf that....

.....you really dislike, but which you used to like and can't bring yourself to get rid of for various reasons:

CSNY - 4 Way Street - I loved this album in the 80s, but now the liberal hippy lyrics, the harmonies and the between song hippyness make me cringe like crazy. It's awful.

REM - Murmur, Fable, Out of Time, Auto for the people - I used to love REM in the 80s, but now I can't abide them

Yeah, all my REM records fall into that category.

    Also The Smiths.
High Vibration Go On - R.I.P. Chris Squire

I've got an autographed Collective Soul CD. Very lame band but won't throw it away since I met them in Red Bank NJ some years back (didn't see them, just went after the show for sigs)

I have a couple John Tesh albums...and I have tried to get rid of them but for some reason nobody seems to want them. Go figure!

We all have plenty of them I am sure.

Some were mistakes at the time, some we loved but then became disconnected from.

Sounds like a number of marriages

I can't understand this at all. If you hate an album wouldn't you want to sell it? I never kept anything I hated except until I could get something for it.

First album I ever bought that I hated: The Man Machine - Kraftwerk.

This is sort of a sad story. My sister gave me a Linkin Park CD (Minutes to Midnight) because she thought i might like some of the songs. (We were both into Faith No More.) The songs were okay, for what they were, but I never got into them, and just left the CD in the car. At some point, I was supposed to give it back to her, but I kept putting it off.

She died three and a half years ago of cancer, and I've kept the CD for sentimental reasons, even though I don't like the music too much.

Red Shadow: Better Red. Kept it for the crazy cover and “See Her Energy,” the fake commercial/comedy bit that’s better than any of the actual songs on the album. Unfortunately, the cover to my copy is trashed. More unfortunately, the cover to every copy I’ve ever seen has been trashed, a shame as it’s the best thing about the album.

What are you going to get for an individual album? If you mistime it, you get $2 maybe $3 and considering all the effort you have to make to have the sale happen, sometimes it is cheaper just keep it and wait for the right opportunity to sell it.

e.g. Amazon prices of the albums I listed

    Starcastle Starcastle $2.80
Sylvian, David & Robert Fripp Darshan $3
Lane, Lana Secrets of Astrology $3

none is worth the effort to sell

    whereas

    U.K. U.K. $20
    East Resek a Falon $20

    well very tempting

I bought a couple of Madonna CD's in the 80s, because I probably caved in to the hype.

One was that awful Dick Tracy movie soundtrack.

I paid $18.98 for that beer coaster!

Usually, those are not on my shelves, but in a wooden wine crate under a seat, waiting for his lazyness (that's moi!! ) to find time to make a list and put it in the trade list

not even, that's one of the uglier tattoo I've ever seen.... and I'm not even sure that's a female breast, instead of some kind of oestrogened-male one
