Some more news, some not so good.

    Dear friends,

It's been a while! Actually since I've been launching my crowdfunding
campaign for my album The Empty Room, released on May 22nd.

Everything is working pretty fine with this album. The cover and the
design are wonderful, thanks to JC Philippart, I am very, very happy
with the mastering, made here in Berlin, and the first reviews are cool.

I just released, online only, the parallel album to The Empty Room
(maybe some of you remenber that I very often release a "Frames"
improvisation album in the same impulse than a composition album).
This one is called "Campanologie" is available now on Bandcamp and is
made of experimentations around my Etude Campanologique n°3 for electric
guitar quartet. I also really love the cover of this one, an amazing

    About Yang:

Due to some problems with my right wrist (which I was not aware was
broken since 2 years) I must have surgery before the end of the year.
Therefore no concerts planned until 2020.

But as a matter of fact we want to release our next album "Designed for
Disaster" in 2020. I will not play too much guitar during the summer and
the autumn, but will compose a lot.

    Cheers!

    Frédéric

    More news from Frédéric L'Epée, 01 2020
    Dear friends,

Here we are! The terrible but fruitful 2019 is over, may we engage in
2020 the best way possible, considering the circumstances.

    1) Yang

2020 will see the release of Yang's 4th album Designed for Disaster*.

Recordings have already begun but we are still not sure about launching
a crowdfunding campaign again or searching a label.

We are currently looking for an idea of design for the album, not
something too obvious but still heavy and dark...

    2) Frédéric

The solo album Only Solo Guitar is on good tracks but will take time as
I am working on refining the interpretation of all these solo guitar
pieces (without looper or overdubs), some of them never having been made
    public in any way.

Some others can be listened to, as live versions, on my Youtube channel
(to which you are warmly welcome to subscribe of course!)
    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjs...3ufRvU_pEmHWWQ

    Cheers,

    Frédéric

    * About the meaning of the title: it seems obvious now that we are
genetically programmed to take, as a species, the worst decisions
    possible for our own survival.

    Another message:
    Dear friends,

    Exceptional situation, exceptional behaviours.

We all have to change the course of our lives to face the global health
crisis. Many thanks to those of you who keep on going to work to avoid
the interruption of a vital service, health centers, food supplies,
firemen, police, water and electricity supplies, and so on...!

Some of us who are independant workers have seen their income suddently
stopped or drastically reduced. I am talking especially about musicians,
actors, scene artists and behind the scene workers. Of course there are
many other professions impacted by the sanitary measures.

Some companies are taking this occasion to try to make greedy profits
(health insurances fo example), some others at the opposite try to help
    artists with exceptional measures:

This is the case of Bandcamp, who decided to wave their revenu share on
Friday, March20 from midnight to next midnight _PST_ so that all the
money paid when buying songs or albums goes directly in the pocket of
    the artists.

Then if you intended to buy music, Friday is the best moment ever!

These are the links of Yang Bandcamp and my solo Bandcamp pages. And I
am sure you know many other artists who need your support.

Thanks a lot and take good care of you and your love ones!

Some news and a spoiler of sorts

    Dear friends,

I hope these news will find you in good shape and not too much affected,
directly or indirectly, by the crisis.

    About Yang:

After taking some holidays, we will resume the recording of our next and
fourth album "Designed for Disaster" in October. No doubt that you'll be
    surprised by what is coming...

Of course our travel in U.S. to perform at the ProgDay festival in
September is cancelled, as the festival will occur but online in live
stream. Without us because logistically too complicated. But let's hope
next year will be possible at Chapel Hill! Anyway, we strongly recommend
    to watch it online! https://progday.net/ProgDay-News.html

    About my own work:

Only a few days of work to complete the recording of my 12th solo album,
this time pure solo electric guitar. The scores of my six Etudes are
already available to purchase on my website (only 5 of them will appear
on the album, the Etude n°3 being mainly an arpeggio exercise).
    http://fredericlepee.eu/recordings.html

I wish you a good end of summer, and stay safe!

    Received 4/16
    Dear friends,

Already six months since my last message, but things got stuck, you know
it, and it is pretty difficult to achieve anything at the moment.

    About Yang:

Due to the absurd curfew and restrictions in France Volodia, our
drummer, has been unable to record the album and we are still waiting
for it... When he does it, the rest will be rather fast.
Of course, no concert in view. Even a live stream is for us impossible
as we live so far from each other. Hopefully in 2022!

    About me:

Things are moving a bit better.

I perform a live stream concert in a real venue with my electric guitar
    ensemble for contemporary music, e - w e r k, on Tuesday May 18th
(UTC+2) at 20:10 at the BKA Theater in Berlin
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjAK...%C3%B6rteMusik.
Pieces by composers Eckart Beinke, Stefan Beyer, David Dramm, Daniel
Weissberg, and I will play my solo piece Twists and Turns.

My solo album, 12 pieces for Solo Electric Guitar is, this time, really
completed. I've had the time to record several versions of each piece
and choose between them. I am currently searching for a label to release
it. If some of you have ideas about a possible label, please let me know
; no rock or progressive rock label, they should not be interested in a
solo guitar album, maybe an open classical/new music label like ECM.

In another hand, I am starting to work on something new, this time
    mainly on fretless guitar...

In the meantime, you can still listen to and buy my work on
    http://fredericlepee.eu/recordings.html (physical) and
    https://laspada.bandcamp.com/ (digital and physical)

I wish you all the best possible in these troubled times. Take care!

News of the day, some bandcamp and a new Cuneiform album.
    Dear friends,

    - The Yang album"Designed for Disaster" will be released during the
first months of 2022, Cuneiform Records is currently manufacturing it.

    - My personnal album "12 Pieces for Solo Electric Guitar" has maybe
found a interesting (and interested!) label to be released on. If
confirmed, I'll disclose the name of the label and the date of release
    on the next newsletter.

In the meantime, to celebrate the end of this one more tough year, Yang
and I are offering a 20% discount on all our albums, digital and solid
ones, bought on our bandcamp page.

_For Yang_,type the code "apocalypse" on Bandcamp (please note that this
discount only applies to Machines and The Failure of Words).

_For Frédéric L'Epée_, type the code "guelso" on Bandcamp

So far, no festival has offered any date for a Yang concert. Uncertainty
still remains for all the artists and entertainment professionals.

Have a beautiful and happy end of the year and take care of you and your
    loved ones.

Just noticed something kind of strange: when I look at Yang's Bandcamp page on my iPhone, I don't see the album A Complex Nature at all, but on my Windows laptop I do see it. I've never noticed something like that before. Can anyone check if it's the same for them, if they have both?

Same here. Strange. Maybe it's because "A Complex Nature" appeared on Cuneiform and the other two albums didn't?

So I keep posting stuff here about Frédéric L'Epée, I suppose he would rate a singular post rather than hanging on to this album announcement.
But hey, why mess with success.
Anyhow, a sharp eye might spot a bit of news which may or may not be kind of exciting:
    Yang - Frédéric L'Epée - 05-22
    Dear friends,

    About *Yang*:

A big Thank you! to all of you who supported the release of our 4th
album and for your compliments about it. It is receiving enthousiastic
reviews all over the world (well, the small world of "challenging"
music) and we are very happy about how things are going.

    The album is available here:
    https://cuneiformrecords.bandcamp.co...d-for-disaster and
    for hard copies on
    http://www.waysidemusic.com/Music-Pr...e-spc-494.aspx
and all European usual distributors (Broken Silence in Germany I think).
The other *Yang* album are available on our Bandcamp page:
https://yang1.bandcamp.com or on our website: http://yanggroup.fr

We are hoping to be able to play at *ProgDay Festival* in North Carolina
beginning September. We are just waiting for the final approval from them.

If you didn't subscribe yet to our *Youtube* page
    (https://www.youtube.com/user/Yanggroup) and our *Facebook* page
(https://www.facebook.com/yangmusique) we encourage you to do it. It is
the best way, besides buying our music, to help us grow our presence online.

    About me:

Still nothing about my solo album, but I am not in any hurry, now
working on some new paths for future releases.

I am recovering from what is for me a long period of illness and start
to work on a project in which I am simply a player. A beautiful piece by
the German Composer *Daniel Ott*: “_/berlin westhafen – umschlagplatz
klang“ - /__/„hafenbecken I und II/_“, written to be performed in an old
but still active industrial site in Berlin. 64 musicians, a huge and
beautiful site on the Spree shore and a very impressive and well written
score. For those of you who have the chance to be in Berlin on June
10th, 11th and 12th it is the perfect occasion to visit a wonderful
non-touristic place filled with music: percussions on cranes, wood
structures, chariots, string ensembles, brass, woods, accordions,
electric guitars and basses... beautiful noises! (flyer attached)

    __________________

At the beginning of the month we've had a very fruitful rehearsal with
*Shylock* in order to rput together what should have been the band's
third album, back in 1978. Three sung pieces completely abandonned
because of the band's break-up and lack of interest in singers.
But working with the extraordinary Ayşe Cansu Tanrıkulu
    <https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/ayse-cansu-tanrikulu> for /Designed
for Disaster/ made me up with singers and as *André Fisichella*,
Shylock's drummer, proposed to try to release these songs, we decided to
put them back on the workbench. The first approach has been very
exciting with *Sylvie Fisichella*, André's wife, who has the perfect
    voice for that music.
I reworked on the lyric (in English) made back then in our early
twenties, but I tried not to change them too much to keep their freshness.

I will let you know about the evolution of the project.

What a great thing to see first thing in the morning.

A few years back there was a thread asking to pick 3 bands you would like to see play progday (and have a realistic chance...ie, don't say "camel").
Yang was one of my picks. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this happens (and trying to talk a few others into an 11 hour drive).

Yang is a great choice, partly because L'Epée will probably be a party animal out by the Comfort Inn pool!

    http://yang1.bandcamp.com is welcome!

Well glad another Yang album is in the cards. Hopefully several means the album will be mostly instrumental.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

Never let good music get in the way of making a profit.

I'm only here to reglaze my bathtub.
