    Bands similar to Camel

Someone inspired me on the OMNI thread, so I thought it might be interesting to see how many there are similar in sound to the band CAMEL.

    1. OMNI - Spain, made 3 albums
    2. FLAMMING BESS - Germany, made 6 albums
    3. MIRAGE - France, made 3 albums
    4. SEBASTIAN HARDIE - Australia, made 3 albums

Here are a few, I have more, but trying to jog my brain at the moment.

I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

    - Windchase - Symphinity (1977): post Sebadtian Hardie.
    - Bellaphon.
    - Blank Manuskript - Tales from an Island (2008).
    - Ragnarock - Same (1976)
    Pura Vida!.

2 cassette only EPs. First was Once Around The Graveyard And Back Again, the 2nd was The Path. I may have a spare of the 2nd. They were of the "Norwich School" and included Chris Phillips of Earthstone, Ranata Spirit, and others.

I love Anyone's Daughter, but will have to pull them out & listen, since I don't remember thinking they were Camelesque.

Good call - a melodic beauty.

Try out early Pendragon, their debut album The Jewel is Camel-esque in parts.

Try the newest Sebastian Hardie, 'Blueprint'. My favorite SB album, without a doubt. Also Mario Millo's 'Oceans of the Mind' can venture Camelesque.

    Definitely echo the 'Sanhedrin' sentiments...

Yeah, their early stuff was more Saga-ish to my ears.

The instrumental band Odyssice from the Netherlands always reminded me of Camel, with a guitarist that sounds like Latimer at times, and also Hackett and Rothery.

I believe Andy actually plays on this track.

If you are a fan of Camel and haven’t heard the solo albums of Collin Bass you are in for a real treat.

Collin plays bass in Camel and has recorded several albums over the years. The material closest to
Camels sound would be Outcast of the Islands, In the Meantime, and At Wild End. All superb albums
    in my opinion.

The vocals are very similar to Camel. The song writing in my opinion is tighter and to my ears just as
    good.

Collin has also recorded under the name “Sabah Habas Mustapha” in Indonesia. Those albums are
    worth sampling as well.

I posted them on RYM long ago. I'll bet you can still get "new" dead stock copies of the 2nd from Chris Bond in the UK. I'm at work, so I don't have contact information at hand, but you may be able to locate him on Facebook.

Clearly "inspired" on Freefall, White Rider and other material from Mirage hehehe

This band copied Deep Purple a lot in other songs too. hehehe
