The Fierce And The Dead: New single out, album due soon

Couldn't find a dedicated thread for The Fierce And The Dead...but they've got a new single out. On the basis of this, the upcoming album could be a monster!

It's time to check 'em out if you haven't already, especially if you love arty progressive noises. I have a feeling they're still not on the radar of those outside the UK.

I really enjoyed their set at ROSfest last year.

Here are many, many thoughts on the upcoming album...plus a stream of the first couple of tracks. (Includes spoilers)

It's an utterly superb release. I've got a feeling this will be the one to take them to a bigger audience.

I'm still excited by this album. Usually, once I've spent ages pulling things apart for review, they're harder to listen to just for pleasure, but this has so many layers. It's a fair bet it'll end up in my top ten for the end of the year.

Would this be considered Post Rock?

We get prog, psychedelic, stoner rock and post rock at present. Really we're an instrumental rock band that combines all of the above with some metal and electronic stuff.

It's cause we've played/toured with Frost*, Big Business, Hawkwind, Knifeworld, Cleft, Black Peaks, Crippled Black Phoenix. We've played festivals with Dillenger Escape Plan then played Rosfest the week after.

I dont know what we are, you can hear the full album

I'm happy for people to call us post-rock, prog or whatever. I just want people to hear it. We've built a pretty big loyal following in the UK but it took 8 years cause we don't sound like one thing. I dunno. Really.

Thanks very much, we had so much fun making this record and we've beem blown away by the response to it, Prog mag made it their lead review and the press has been really good alongside the fan response and our London show sold out. Good times, really glad you enjoyed it.

Listened to the album a bunch of times in a row earlier in the week, the latter half of the album is really growing on me.

A few nerd questions: For the demos, do you all bring in pieces of music, or does a lot of this material come out of jamming, and finding the good bits? The demos feel very close to the final recordings...

Also, do you know the date of the live track on the bonus disc? I'm very specific about detailing that on the file.

Yes, I'm a nerd about this stuff. Great album, I'm sure it'll get more listens this weekend... Thanks Matt for coming in here to talk about this...

Hi Matt! Thanks for the info, I'm a bit of a nerd (surprise surprise) about keeping track of where live tracks come from...

The album continues to grow on me, I think it may be my favorite TFATD release.

    Thanks!
