    Saw Jimmy Webb last night

While visiting Mom in Delray. Had no expectations. Was enthralled by this witty storyteller. Earworms all night.

So brilliant. Lucky you. One of the finest songwriters of our time, in fact
And the code is a play, a play is a song, a song is a film, a film is a dance...

I just finished reading P.F. Sloan's "What's Exactly Wrong With Me?" in which he sings the praises of Webb. As well as himself.

I am about to start Webb's autobiography, "The Cake And The Rain."
We're trying to build a monument to show that we were here
It won't be visible through the air
And there won't be any shade to cool the monument to prove that we were here. - Gene Parsons, 1973

Loved his stories about hanging out with Nilsson and the whole LA scene. His Richard Harris impression was spot on..."Jimmy Webb, make me a pop star!"

JW's "Carpet Man" as performed by the 5th Dimension. Brilliant.
