As some of you may have heard, Aksak Maboul's second record "Un peu de l'âme des bandits" is being reissued on vinyl this month, and I need to draw the attention of potential aficionados to this: the reissue includes a full CD ("Before and After Bandits"), consisting of unreleased live and demo recordings, charting the sinuous evolution of Aksak Maboul's ever-morphing music from '77 to '80 and 2015... and featuring no less than 18 of the band's past and current members. By special request of certain Aksak fans who already own a vintage vinyl copy of the "Bandits" album, the label is putting a very limited quantity of the bonus CD on sale separately, only on Bandcamp: https://aksakmaboul.bandcamp.com/…/u...a-me-des-band…
The vinyl edition has been remastered, and also comprises a big booklet with documents, stories, recollections by all the musicians.
(This is the album which was recorded in 1979 with Fred Frith & Chris Cutler, who joined Aksak's then-current line-up of Michel Berckmans, Frank Wuyts, Denis Van Hecke and Hollander, plus guest vocalist Catherine Jauniaux, and which All Music Guide describes as "a pinnacle of the RIO movement"… while German radio ByteFM thinks that it sounds "as if Pere Ubu got together with Faust to cover Igor Stravinsky" :-) )
