I'll be preordering this as soon as it goes up for sale!
Oh please, can I be the first one to order? Is there a stronger word that autobuy (mega autobuy?)? My favourite Marillion album, by a long shot.

I thought Slick Willie was not a fan of Marillion's music?
^ I got that idea from quotes he made in the mid-late 90s.
Sorry, didn't mean to sound incredulous - I know he did say things about wanting to drag progressive rock into the 21st century and such.
This is from Anil Prasad's interview with Wislon published in 2013: "Jazz is something very specific to the first generation of progressive rock. It almost completely disappeared in the generation that came after. Marillion, who I love, and bands that came after it, completely removed the element of jazz and replaced it with more of a pop sensibility. I think Marillion did that better than almost anyone else has within the universe of progressive rock."
Pretty much defines "autobuy" for me.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
I think I'm about due for my once-per-decade listen...
yeah.
I guess since this is my favorite album, I can't see passing on this. Although it's sad I have yet to see them play the whole thing in person.

This one is in my top 3 all time favs. I'm tempted but since I own neither a blu ray player or a 5.1 setup, I guess I'm going to have to be reasonable.
So should I listen to the regular 2-disc album? Never heard it. Doesn't seem like something I would dig on paper, but maybe I would?
If it isn't Krautrock, it's krap.
"And it's only the giving
That makes you what you are" - Ian Anderson
It's their most dense album, many layers and a lot going on. Very dramatic, and a dark story. There is no 2-disc album, the EMI remaster bonus disc is extras and demos, etc - not necessary for a first time listener. Give it a shot, you never know. It's not the album I would use to introduce Marillion to someone, in the same way that I wouldn't hand someone who had never heard Yes a copy of Topographic Oceans. But those of us who like it - love it. It's my favourite and always will be. Not to mention it contains the single greatest moment in their entire career in the climax of "The Great Escape". I got chills just thinking about it right now.

As much as I love this album, I have this bought the 2 cd reissue, at least two live dvd's plus the made again live cd version. I think I'll pass unless I hear otherwise... too much other good stuff out there to buy
"Angels die, redemption rages
The age of man on an empty page
And chances are
This will save your soul or break it forever "
I spin this album more than any other Marillion album but I have a vinyl copy that's simply superb. Thanks anyway.
The older I get, the better I was.
I haven't spent quite as much cash on Brave (just the original, the EMI remaster and Live 2013 DVD), but I'm also on the fence. It'd be interesting to check out the full Made Again show. Then again, no telling how much mileage it'll get. I imagine I'd still keep going back to the '94 CD more than anything else.
An interesting booklet and new mix would probably be the selling points. If the Wilson job is an improvement over the original (as opposed to the worsened remastering of '99 or whenever it was), that's a plus, but they don't confirm whether that'll be the CD version included, even if it seems most likely.
Maybe you're thinking of Dream Theater.

This and the impending live box set are defineatly on my radar!
It's a shame the film won't be included. That was my introduction to the album, watching it during the 1994 Yestival in LA. It made a powerful impact on everyone in the room.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.
