Exactly.

There was a reason Joan Baez was at many of the big festivals of that era. She was at Monterey of course, constant presence at the NewPort Jazz Festivals, she had her own annual Big Sur Festival (killer version of Down by the River by CSNY on the 1969 film, great stuff) and the 69 one was held just a few weeks after Woodstock. She was very much in the middle of the counterculture at that time and was everpresent at anti-war rallies. So again, saying she was "totally out of place" at Woodstock and "of a different time" is simply ignoring her central place in the youth culture at that time.
The OP, to whom my post about Baez was also addressing, was simply insulting and obviously did not know much about Baez, and didn't like her music. Its a huge music festival spread out over 3 days, going day and night with bands. Just like at a Nearfest or a ProgDay, not everyone is going to like every band. With regard to crowd reaction, again, these performances are edited and not complete. She is a folk singer, and her set is going to be quieter and more reflective than a set by The Who or Santana etc. She's not going to elicit some testosterone fueled reaction. Plus, someone mentioned she was pregnant, and her performance was at 1 in the morning.
I was not at Woodstock, slightly before my teen years, so Progeezer and mogrooves know better re the context of the times and the concert than me, but I am a big admirer of Joan Baez (have seen her twice live), I have the Blu Ray version of this and have seen multiple versions of the film over the years, and have seen numerous documentaries and read extensively about this stuff, and some of these comments really miss the boat based on what I do know of a true champion of human rights and social justice, as well as an incredible singer and true voice of that generation, so I felt Joan needed some defending.
