    In Memoriam 2017

I've published a list for Echoes of those we've lost over the last year. A lot of prog rockers, ones we all know like John Wettton and Alan Holdsworth, but many who slipped by like Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit of Can drummer Clive Brooks. https://wp.me/p4ZE0X-dm8

One correction: The Roches were a trio, not a duo.

Don't forget Phil Miller, one of the founders of Canterbury

    Thanks for the list

I knew that. I don't know why I put duo. Thanks.

For some reason I thought Phil was a '16 loss. Thanks. Updated.

Although Maggie and Terre did make an album as a duo before the first actual Roches album. ("Guess which two of us made a record...")

Oh, I didn't know that Phil Miller had passed away. Only 68. Sad.
Makes me think I should take that early retirement...

Here's NPR's list. It's missing a few proggers that John thoughtfully included but casts a slightly wider net. Not as devastating a year as 2016 but man, we still lost a lot this year.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

Doesn't seem as much volume wise but in my mind a lot of unexpected losses like Chris Cornell, Walter Becker, Tom Petty, Pat DiNizio, Larry Coryell, Alan Holdsworth...2017 sure packed a wallop.

I'm surprised none of these lists mention Col. Bruce Hampton.

Wow, Allan Holdsworth, Phil Miller, Larry Coryell and John Abercrombie, all in one year. It can get any worse than that!!!

4 of the best electric Guitar men of all time
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

Don’t forget Joy Fleming, lead singer of Joy Unlimited among her other accomplishments (a rock/blues/gospel singer from Mannheim, Germany is a big accomplishment in my book).

A friend flew to Atlanta for that concert from the Bay Area and witnessed the tragedy first hand. I can't imagine it.
