I think Kavus hugged my entire family if I'm not mistaken - not sure - I was EFFFED Up. What a great night.

Cool names! Does Quatuor Bela mean that Albert Marcoeur will also join the festival?

good news re: Albert; I never understood why he wasn't there before. He certainly should be there.

Where was the announcement? FaceBook? An email to you? It certainly isn't on their website.

Great news! I think his music is certainly representative of this festival ethos! Great addition!

Yes!! I'll be there - these first announcements are already enough to get me to pack my bags! Of course, I still have a wish-list for remaining slots, but I'm very happy.

    Looking forward!

Starting to look good - I love Albert Mancoeur maybe I'll bite the bullet and make the trip this year - the last one I was at was 2010. Damn how time flies when you get old.

Just don't expect anything like his outstanding work from the 70's... I've seen his concert with the Bela sting quartet, it's fine but there are few stylistic links to RIO.

    re : Jean-Louis
For me, a strong encouragement to stay home.

Yes, I own his later albums including the one with Quatuor Bela. Not my favorite Marcoeur, but still Marcoeur. Lovely and deserved addition to the festival line-up IMO.

Apparently Quatuor Bela will play twice, once with Jean Louis & once with Albert Marcoeur.

From the bits I heard, it sounds like it's very lyric-driven. So if you don't have any French (I don't), you miss a lot of it.

You are right, I have seen 2 shows with this formation and some parts just went above my head (the audience laughing at points that I didnt even know were funny)
Actually I think I was the only non-french speaking member in the audience

It adds a dimension if you get the lyrics which are excellent, but I suppose one can enjoy his concerts on a purely musical base. Here is one of my favorite of his last program : les valises a roulette (trolley case with wheels) nice observation of an everyday live phenomena as he often, does btw. It's great when all imitate the noise of the wheels.
