Some of us find the whole idea of an extra-physical “spirit” superstitious and distasteful.

I mean, if you’re going to accept that the spirit lives on after a person’s death you have to also believe that the spirit exists somewhere BEFORE the person is born too.

if the “soul” is independent of the physical body, it must exist both before and after the body, no? If not, one is left with the assembly of a soul being somehow tied to the creation of the body.

That's why people believe in reincarnation.

    Dead brain dead spirit.

Of course there are many who believe that the so-called spirit, personality or whatever - essentially the consciousness, survives the brain. Ironically those same people will never research their keen interest, try to understand the truth, emergence theory or what scientists are striving to understand because for all intents and purposes they are already functionally brain dead in this respect.

Reincarnation has its own problems. How would a soul get infused into a body? Where has it been in the meantime? How do you account for there being so many more souls alive now than ever before in history?

The “logic” of it quickly become nonsensical.

Morrison believed that the souls of dead Native Americans leaped into his body or something like that. If nothing else Jim was one of the most interesting rock icons ever. He hated being idolized.

Mike Myers had a good Jim in whatever Austin Powers movie that was. Or was that a Wayne’s World?

Somebody get Neal Morse on the phone quick. He can answer these questions for us all.

She had a lot of fringe books about Jim, claiming all sorts of wild stuff about him. Quite a cult. Are there a lot of people who still believe this today? I'm sure I could Google it...

^^ There was a similar girl in my high school. She also believed Paul McCartney is dead. I told her Jim Morrison is taking Paul McCartney's place.
