    Manticore is back

I found this the other day and was completely surprised.

    https://www.manticorerecords.com/

I wonder what will be released in the future.

I'll take a wild-ass guess and say a Greg Lake live album.

I know that and already ordered the vinyl. However, it sounds like it won't just be a label for Lake material, since there probably isn't anything else available from Lake anyway.

Where's that Keith Emerson Tribute Concert DVD that was announced?

Seems like there should be more than just one or a few Greg Lake live releases... It wouldn't make sense to resurrect a label just for that, would it? But then what could there still be in need of release? The ELP archives have been pretty well plundered by now, no?

I think this must have something involved beyond Lake/ELP.. The original Manticore had other artists, and I feel this new Manticore will have other artists.

Would be fun if they reissued some of the non-ELP albums, like the two that Junior (Hanson) Murvin made before the Wailers.

Does this mean the next ELP reissue campaign is in the offing?

I doubt it. ELP signed to BMG when all 3 members were still alive.

Didn't Esoteric reissue the entire Manticore catalog a few years ago? Did they leave anything out? is this new Manticore related to Esoteric?

    Nightmareish trailer, like Test Dept!

My dream would be that they oversee the polishing, recording and release of Crossing the Rubicon

Much like the great work Nick Divirgilio did with Kevin Gilbert's Shaming of the True after Kevin passed.

Why would Esoteric waste money licensing Manticore's catalogue, only to buy Manticore outright later?

^^^ No idea. It might still be some sort of licensing arrangement.

In 2018, hopefully we won't be asking the same question.

I hope it isn't just solo Lake concerts, because I have zero interest in that. Just IMO, but I'd be surprised if that's all they've got.

The first Stray Dog album kicks major butt. And of course, Greg Lake produced most of it.
