In Search of the Great Lost Songs - Now Inducting 5 a month...

we've been on a never-ending search for the greatest obscure and under-rated songs... and I'm sure the good folks here at PE could offer some assistance...

Please take a look at our Archive so far and send suggestions - thanks!

It is a subjective list. My personal original for this is this... When MTV launched they played many basically unknown artists in those early months.

One in particular was Jack Green (on the list) who anybody I ask - just doesn't remember.

There was also a radio station in New York that launched early 80's - think it was WAPP - they played a lot of obscure artists like the band TAXXI and midwestern AOR types.

Thing is - I know there are several dozen tracks I loved that are in my memory completely lost to the passage of time. This list is an effort to find some of those and more!

Nice to see Martin Briley's "The Salt in My Tears" on your list. I saw that video on MTV a few times in the 80s and the song just stuck in my head. I looked for it for years, not even knowing who the artist was, before I finally found it on a big boxed set of 80s rock and pop songs.

Thanks for the link to the video - haven't seen that in ages. Clever idea for a low-budget video - while Briley sits in his living room playing guitar and singing "you ain't worth the salt in my tears", his wife serves him with divorce papers and then has movers take everything he owns out of the house. She even takes his wristwatch without disturbing his guitar playing. But it turns out all his money is hidden in the fireplace.

I have a suggestion for a lost song, but I'm not sure how known it was. I think it must have been somewhat known, as back then i did not know any really obscure songs. The song is Last Chance by Shooting Star. Would this song qualify?
