Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally

And who knew Soundgarden did a cover of FOPP! Not bad actually...

Skin Tight and Fopp were cool tracks, but I still think that intro riff on Love Rollercoaster rules.

I never said it didn't Ohio Players killed. Fire, Sweet Sticky Thing and I Wanna Be Free were good tracks too.

Ya know, I'm sure I'm not the only person of a certain age who saw his first naked woman on the cover of an Ohio Players record.

That was indeed excellent. Thanks. If I ever run across that album I will have to get it.

Mogrooves' got it! Those two are my favorite funk/r&b artists of all time (James Brown, TOP). I liked the Ohio Players, AWB, and all the others mentioned but didn't have any of their albums.

Years ago I bought a cheapo, Funk sampler/compilation at a rekkid store, titled "Millenium Funk Jam." Not sure why I bought it. I think it was for a party for a bunch of kids or something. No one liked it except me . I found this little gem on there:

Normally I wouldn't go for this synthetic, robotic type of funk, but this is just relentless.

Here's an early one I have a specific vivid memory hearing in an old car (50s) on the AM station:

I have this funk collection, featuring a lot of unknown names playing some real down and dirty funk.

I'm going to play it now. A volume 2 of this exists, but I haven't heard it yet.

Here's a modern guy keeping the funk flame burning:

I am surprised nobody has mentioned any tracks from The Brecker Brothers live album, Heavy Metal Be Bop. A very funky album with some great playing.
