Oh, this blows. Only Little Richard remains from my heroes. RIP Fats.

Rest in peace.

RIP Fats
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
I didn't know he had still been kicking it up until just now. Glad to know he lived such a long life. This almost makes me want to break from my mid-'70s fixation to spend more time on the 1950s.

Always rated his stuff- I remember at a very young age being entranced by that intro on 'Walking To New Orleans'. A rock 'n' roll pioneer and a gateway for me into the world of New Orleans R&B. A long stretch of big hit singles.
This is probably the most comprehensive, cheap (and official) collection I encountered:

A class act. RIP
"The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you got to load or unload go to the White Zone!"
RIP to a real pioneer, who, when he was interviewed back in the day surprised the interviewer when he said that he wasn't at all upset at Pat Boone ripping off both Ain't That....& Blueberry & making a lot of money, since they couldn't change the name of the composer (him) and he WAS getting his composer share (not always the case) and picking up white listeners as well from the theft.
"My choice early in life was either to be a piano player in a whorehouse or a politician, and to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference"
President Harry S. Truman
^Boone was fine on ballads- I think he always was a crooner in the first place- but on songs like that and 'Tutti Frutti' (with changed lyrics), cringeworthy doesn't cover it. Little Richard made similar comments...the young white audience got to eventually hear his and preferred it.
I did not initially know things like 'Blueberry Hill' and 'My Blue Heaven' were old songs, he inhabits them so completely he might as well have written them!
So sorry to hear about Fats Domino. He'll Always be remembered as one of the Founding Fathers of Rock & Roll.
RIP Fats. I never got into his music. Checking out that live video and he must have been a killer act to see.
The early stuff (his first 15 singles or so) is just a wonderful blueprint for r'n'b, rock'n'roll and the particularly New Orleans take on that stuff.
