I'm going to 2 shows but now thinking of selling one. Very pissed off she is just doing 15-16 songs and playing maybe 1:30 and charging in excess of $80. Tori has far too many albums to play a short set. Her comment is I'm getting old-please talk to Bruce Springsteen and MACCA.
In regards to ticket prices- It is getting harder for me to pay to see an act I've seen before and pay over $100. However, I've always spent a crazy amount on music mostly buying albums, concerts and concert merch. Now since I barely buy any albums its become paying for spotify and sirius radio, the rest goes to live music and I just about stopped buy merch (also gone up). Even with inflated ticket prices I'm not sure I'm spending more money on music. Also I was drinking lots of expensive wines and expensive dinners which I've tone down. So this year I paid a lot in live music but also mix in plenty of small shows for $10-$20.
In regards to big venues -its funny I use to hate them and stayed away most of the 80's and 90's from them. However, now I don't mind them for several reasons. One I don't stay in the bad seats. It's very easy to roam around and find better seats or standing places. Also if you go to see a show with older people they leave early. For Waters I had a seat in the second to last row of the floor but by the begining of the second set I was 6th row with a seat. For U2, by the middle of the show I moved to the 4th row on the side and for the Macca show I ended up watching most of the show from the bar areaclose to the stage and as I watched people leave after 2 hours I moved down close(I had nosebleeds). Most big venue shows I tend to buy seats on the corners which are cheaper. The other thing about a big venue if you sit in certain places the sound is better (something not true years ago) and I've now noticed that the lights are better at big venues. As far as the crowd for the most part its about getting there early enough as people tend to show up late and either leaving for the last encore (or at least getting near the exit) or waiting until the major crowd leaves. Because of bad knees I can't stop short so hate the major mass exits.
I still enjoy the small venue show over the big venue but neither scares me anymore.
