A name so good they used it twice!

Better, at least, than Humptulips, Puyallup or Dosewallips.

This place is getting very popular with the influx of winos (vineyards and wineries) from seattle and california... Property values climbing but I hate to see it get all posh-like. When we moved here it reminded me of the 1970s.

Mondays huh? Will have to check it out! Funny I was just in Walla Walla first time last weekend for a wedding. Ended up doing an unscheduled piano performance at the Whitman Hotel. Piano slightly out of tune but nice. I liked Walla Walla. Had a nice brunch with a large group at Clarette's.

I'm required to play 3 new songs from a stack of CDs picked by management. I only found 2 that I liked, One by a band called Boyscott and 1 by Grizzly bear. Got a warning that 2 not good enough.... must play 3. But their choices are pretty crummy.

Interesting. Payola? Or is that just the given now?

I don't think it's payola given the garbage I have been given to choose from. Seems like a simple management choice... The CDs are picked out by the managing staff. Admittedly many titles and bands I have never heard of and have not even given many of them a listen. There may be a gem in there somewhere but I have my doubts.

Crowbar, Myrkur, Metz, Boyscott, and grizzly bears new cd are the ones I am choosing from this month.... Nothing exceptional about any of them... The new grizzly bear album may be their worst yet. I did find one great track on it and play it at the end of the show here. This new album by Boyscott called Goosebumps being the best I have heard so far.... Pop, surf, rock.... Pretty nice. I want to give it a chance.

But having to pick 3 new songs from someone else's stash pretty much stifles any sense of theme or continuity in ones show unless you get lucky and discover one that fits in with your way of thinking/listening. No matter, I'm happy to be allowed this opportunity, it's something I have always wanted to do. I'm the oldest DJ they have at 59.

^ Cool! Just enjoy it. It's good that you're able to bring as much quality as you can to the station! Fun to think some of those students are partying to your selections.

Yes, it's fun and I'm learning something new. Need to work on my chops. Lol. The station probably only reaches 50 or 60 miles out... Into farms and fields, but a lot of folks here and in Pendleton listen. I'm told it's the only station the prisoners at the penitentiary are allowed to listen to. Hah.

Ha, we were there Sunday morning. I probably saw you. I may have been wearing a Thieves' Kitchen t-shirt, I can't remember for sure. Anyway, will do. Had to work this last Monday, so missed it, sorry to say.

That’s bullshit man. The playlist you posted is varied enough that nobody could accuse you of being elitist or only playing songs from your youth. If it were me I’d tell management to BTFO.

Yea... the 3 songs I picked from their stash were Grizzly bears, Metz, and Myrkur... and played the best songs (in my opinion) I could find on these 3 crappy albums. but 3 songs in a one hour show messes things up. I try to find the shortest songs... like 2:16 or something///Lol

I will say the Grizzly bear song is xlnt, but the album overall (Painted ruins) reeks.

    Thee Midniters - Yea!!

For some reason I always thought they had some relation to the band Redbone, but I just looked them up and found the relation, although small, is to Los Lobos.
    Lou

Looking forward to my day in court.

Used to see los Lobos at Madame wongs and Hong Kong cafe in middle to late 70s. This may have been the coolest playlist I have ever put together. Great music.
