Good stuff, a sort of post-Crimson take on rock + Minimalism. They remind me a bit of Sonar, but without the retuning or the concept, just music.

And every time I read their name, I envision the following introduction:

    "He ist der Schneller (pointing),
und he ist der Toller (pointing the other way),
und, I am der Meier! (slapping his own chest)

    Und ve are Schnellertollermeier!"

I agree with the Sonar comparison, with Schnellertollermeier having a more raucous punk feel to them.

Good stuff coming out of Switzerland!

There used to be a bunch of good ones from there; Bärtsch/Ronin, Stephan Wittwer, No Secrets in the Family, Kafka, Thřnk, L'Ensemble Rayé (and related), Steamboat S, Alboth!, Spaltklang etc.

The first Schneller record sat nicely among all these, so I'll have to look/hear into this one as well.

Visited CH this summer. I could easily move there in about 4.1 seconds. Truly unbelievable place.

    Another cool band from Switzerland

    16-17

I think one of these guys played on an Alboth! album. Huge influence on Weasel Walter who remastered these albums and their final one from 1994.

AFAIK, NOT on Alboth. Too long ago - these guys are too young, I think.

16-17 is older than Alboth, started in 83 I just checked discogs, the sax player was on Leibefeld.

Alboth! were intriguing, far more so than their endlessly better known national compatriots Young Gods - IMHO, of course. I should do a Swissy bonanza weirdo-rocko weekend donning all of these oddballs sometime soon. Schnellertollermeier will get high light and become the very faves of all folx in da 'hood enduring audios from my window.

I had never really thought of Young Gods and Alboth as being all that similar. I suppose they both have a kind of industrial element, but Alboth had more of a noise rock sound and, on Liebfeld at least, jazz influence. I haven't heard a lot of YG though and what I heard may have been from when they were reaching for a wider audience. A bit more user friendly than Alboth, maybe appealing to NIN fans and the like.

I'm listening to 16-17 now via Bandcamp. Crazy stuff. Not sure if it's something I would purchase but I will certainly investigate a bit further. Thanks for sharing!

To get the thread back on track (and to keep it at the top of the page ) I wasn't aware that Schnellertollermeier had a new album in the works so this announcement was a nice surprise. I like X more than Zorn Einen (which is still extremely good) so I'm hoping for a further development of their sound.

So, on the Wayside page for the vinyl, it says this is album number four, what is there aside from Zorn and X?

^^^^ also a linguistic train wreck as well. But he was joking, and hopefully no offense is taken.

Besides, it wasn't until after I bought X that I realized the band's name was a combination (of sorts) of the members' names. Of course, this is coming from the guy who initially though Premiata Forneria Marconi was a power trio and those were the names of the three guys in the band.

I was offended; it is the second time that same 'joke' has been made by the same person in a thread about the band.

I didn't say anything the 1st time, but enough is enough. Y'know?
