Finally!!! A topic worth discussing. A few of my favorites:
I wouldn't consider Drive a power ballad. I had the understanding that a "power ballad" takes the typical ballad format and applies hard rock drums and guitars to it, which most definitely doesn't happen on Drive.
Good call on Night Ranger's Goodbye.
A few that come into mind:
Price Of Love - Bad English
No One Like You - Scorpions
Still Loving You - Scorpions
When It's Love - Van Hagar
Love Comes Walking In - Van Hagar
Not necessarily my top 5 (haven't thought long) but here are 5 really good ones:
Holiday by Scorpions.
Sugar Mice by Marillion.
All of them working on my eight year old Dell with Windows XP (Firefox 18.0).
Now I can see them. Maybe YouTube was having issues last night, or something...
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
Nazareth's "Love Hurts" kind of started the trend as I recall.
Magnum has had a ton of good ones over the years.
High Vibration Go On - R.I.P. Chris Squire
The first song that immediately came to mind was "June" by Spock's Beard.

A gentleman is defined as someone who knows how to play the accordion, and doesn't.
Interesting how the 'power ballad' is often just taken to be a ballad by a rock band. To me it has to have some sort of 'rock' element to be a 'power ballad', particularly some kind of long guitar solo- regardless of whether the band is a 'rock band' or not. Whereas songs like 'June', 'Drive' etc. (great songs) are, for me, ballads done by rock bands rather than 'power ballads', if you get my drift.
So with that in mind:
Chicago- Hard To Say I'm Sorry (they seemed to repeat this formula IMHO but I do like this one)
Bread- Guitar Man
REO Speedwagon- Keep On Lovin' You
Toto- I Won't Hold You Back, Hold The Line
Journey- Open Arms
Ace- How Long
Slade- Everyday
There are others written by Jim Steinman which, although I generally shy away from the term, are the closest I have to 'guilty pleasure' territory. I find them preposterous but entertainingly so.

Scorpions had a few very good ones back back in the 80s:
But my all time favorite would have to be this one:
Rest in Peace Phil Lynott and Gary Moore!
Some mentioned previously in this thread would rank within my top 5. With that, I will post 5 that would be some of my faves:
• House Of Lords "Love Don't Lie"
• McAuley Schenker "Anytime"
• Skid Row "Quicksand Jesus"
• Toto "I'll Be Over You"
• Kix "Don't Close Your Eyes"
Was Aerosmith's "Dream On" the prototype Power Ballad?
Any nominees for anything earlier?
High Vibration Go On - R.I.P. Chris Squire
Would King Crimson's Starless qualify as the ultimate progressive rock Power Ballad?
Uriah Heep "July Morning?"

^^^^ "When the Smoke is Going Down" by Scorpions, which is indeed a good song btw, probably would only be considered a ballad, not a power ballad --- it stays pretty much at the same energy level throughout, whereas I think people associate "power ballad" with an energy build-up (like in classic examples like Dream On, Stairway to Heaven) especially at least in the second half of the song duration.
I'll give you a good one, "Look Into The Future" by Journey. A great power ballad if I ever heard one. It was this song that got me into Journey, pre-Steve Perry.
I used to love the whole album, but to be honest, rarely listen to it these days.
