Allman Brothers Band, New Orleans Jazzfest, 1996
Rufus Harley at the Villanova coffee house in 1975. He was just incredible.
Lowercase P at a Mexican restaurant in Lowell, Mass, in 2013 or so. My friend and I were the only two people there. There were more people in the band (3) than in the audience.

You mentioned The Flat Earth Society. Is that the Bosstown Sound band from 1968? They used to advertise Wallecco candy bars on radio stations in Providence when I was in high school.

Looking forward to my day in court.

“Remember, if it doesn't say "Cuneiform," it's not prog!” - THE Jed Levin
Any time any one speaks to me about any musical project, the one absolute given is "it will not make big money". [tip of the hat to HK]
"Death to false 'support the scene' prog!"
please add 'imo' wherever you like, to avoid offending those easily offended.
Roy Harper, The Enid and Hawkwind at the final free Stonehenge Festival 1984. Blown away by The Enid. Been a fan ever since.
The Flat Earth Society- good stuff
Free is a relative term, since a good friend's father was Eddie Kalicka (RIP) who at the time was one of the top promotion men for Warner, WEA, etc in the DC area. We got tickets to Tull, Bonnie Raitt, Dave Mason, Little Feat, etc, etc for free. Thank you Eddie!!
First truly free concert was Happy the Man at Carter Baron, Aug 30 1977
Only other truly free concert was this summer. Brand X at Lancaster PA Summer concert series, (though I did donate $10 to the Park service.) I think someone said the crowd was 4,500 people who just attend every Sunday no matter the band. Great show and great exposure.
Both were outdoor concerts and geez only 40 years apart Both were excellent as well.

I was too young to see Free in concert.
Seen FES about 10 times, but never got in for free (the backdoor was locked)
