Shum Shir doesnt work for me that great...

but Carta Marina is an excellent new album!!!
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

Shim Shur and Like Mekwas were not as good as Fitful Slumber Until 5 AM, which is my favorite. My second favorite is Droga.

I'm a big fan of "No Slumber Until 5:00AM", "Droga", and the newest one "Hollow Moon". There really isn't a bad album, just various degrees of enjoyment. The really old stuff like "Foam" is a lot more psych, with female singing. The band went through a more krautrock sound on "Subkraut: U-Boats Wilkommen Hier", dipped into more adventuresome prog on 5:00AM and Droga that I already mentioned, went a little more world music on Lique Mekwas and Shum-Shir.... they also have a fair amount of live recordings (a series called Liventure, and others featuring special guests on violin or sax). I think you should find a lot to like.

^ Subkraut is a great one in my view. Probably my fave alongside Fitful Slumber Until 5am.

    Love The Four Zoas!

For the last couple of days I am listening to the Vespero's latest album Songo. Had it for a quite long time already, ever since it has been released by Tonzonen Records where I bought it, but it took some time to get to it. At first kind of dismissed it, I think due mainly to being pissed at everything Russian in general. But then, by my own words in the thread on Ukraine, can not blame everyone in Russia for the atrocities of war criminals - "putin" (intentionally not capitalized there) and his goons. Anyway, setting this apart it is really good, if not great, album. With each listening I like the album more and more, discovering and enjoying something new there each time. To be truthful there, I prefer way more Vespero on its own rather than their albums with Ontalva. My opinion of course.
