    Rock thread

I have gotten into the whole painting, hiding and finding rocks. Is anyone else into this?

Some that I have done, along with my mom's...

Never heard of this as a thing. But those are really nice, I'd love to find the mushroom one! Have you found ones other people have painted and hidden? How'd you find out about this? A bit like the Geocaching thing.

What kind of paints do you use?

Never heard of the practice, but let's say I did.

If I did a nice job on one, I'd hate to part with it.

My parents were heavily into the "Gem & Mineral Show" thing in San Antonio in the 70's, 80's and early 90's, selling various creations at their booth every year. One type of creation involved painting pictures and words on polished minerals that we would find on rockhunting trips.

i use acrylic craft paint and seal with mod podge, which is not completely water proof, but it is water resistant. I have found quite a few-in fact, last night when i was putting them out, i found eight. I also put out three mini canvases for a free art thing. I used the same paints I used on the rocks though, as I am too lazy at the moment to retrieve my other paintsminicanvases1.jpg.

It is sad to part with them at times, especially "The Journey" and the Toynbee Tiles.

Whoa, where the hell are you looking?! Are you sure they aren't ones you made?

Do you put them in the woods?

I like it as well! She seems to enjoy it, although she insists she is not creative

There are a lot of rock groups in my area. Lots of families will paint and hide. Good activity if you have kids. If you go to Facebook and type in the name of your town followed by rocks, you will most likely find a local one. I don't paint (no artistic talent!) but find some occasionally mostly in parks and along trails. Then I move them somewhere else. Most people take pictures of where they found them and post them on the Facebook page.

i belong to quite a few of the rocking groups on facebook, but i participate mostly in the one in millville despite being in bridgeton (both in NJ). millville has a lot more likable hiding places and i have a lot of connection art wise in millville.

Have you found any rocks that had vulgar stuff painted on them?

There were 2 stones, little ones, on top of the gas pump this morning. One had cats-paw stickers on it, and the other painted flowery designs in colors. I'm sure it brightened up the day for some, if not most, who saw them.

    That's the news,
    Film at 11:00.
