If I like Riverside and now Quidam, who next?

So I have been loving everything Riverside since I found them. While searching for who replaces Piotr, I found the more recent Quidam. I have been playing the 2 CDs of Strong Together over and over. The Bass is stellar and the layering with Flute, Violin, Keys and similar dreamy Guitar lines to Riverside.

I realize I am a bit late to this party and did try some searching here, but please list a few bands that are similar to Riverside and Quidam for me to increase my catalog and experiences.

Or their offshoots Satellite or Believe. Have to say that I'm personally not a particular fan of any of those mentioned so far, though. Better modern Polish acts to me were Abraxas, Tatvamasi, Lizard, Indukti, Gargantua and Ankh.

Although I would second the bands Scrotum Scissor recommended, I think Collage would be more up to your alley.

Albion where a band not to far from the Quidam style.

Of course you should check Poland's 70s stars CzesŁaw Niemen and SBB.

There was also another band quite close to early Quidam called Turquoise. They're gone now, I think.

As far as I understand the OP, he wasn't specifically targeting Polish acts in mother tongue. Of course, all the great 70s Eastern bloc progressive artists basically sang in their native languages, and Czeslaw Niemen was one of very few exceptions to the rule in Poland. His Ode to Venus is a landmark rock album from that day and location, backed by SBB who had a glorious career of their own. Other 70s Polish bands of note were Skaldowie, Breakout, Test, Klan, Exodus and Budka Suflera.

Lizard - freaking awesome. All of them. Singer is extremely capable.
Dianoya - 1st album was monumental, 2nd less so.
Retrospective - Research is damn good

Thank you for all the suggestions. I will see what I find and like from some of those. They don't have to be Polish Bands exclusively, but bands with a similar layering style and nice dreamy leads. Vocals where they sing and not scream. I like the style of guitar that Piotr Grudzinski played, I call it "Less in More". He was obviously a Gilmore fan for sure.

Lion Shepherd is another polish band that reminds of Riverside.

Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine would seem like a logical choice!

Indukti comes to mind, in which Duda sings on their first album.

Have you checked out Duda's other band Lunatic Soul? I don't think the albums are quite as good as Riverside, but they are all solid.

    Porcupine Tree perhaps?

Possibly you're not familiar with early porcupine tree? Albums like Stupid Dream or In Absentia are in that general description. Lots of samples on youtube. Try Even Less which opens Stupid Dream.

It's always difficult to pinpoint where you "come from" as listener, so to speak. But if you're somehow just getting started and perhaps haven't yet discovered truly advanced progressive rock, there's a LOT to get from joining here and simply just observing.

If you're a brit commencing on Eastern Europe, that's a damn good sign in itself, IMO.

I think you would like Votum, another Polish heavy prog group, more their earlier stuff, especially Harvest Moon.
