Wish they'd do a legit CD release of Fades, not a CDR. They could have popped it in with Chicago XX and charged a little more, I'd have bitten.

Dude, you are in for a treat IMO. Chicago XX is quite good. Please let us know what you think!

And I'll go back and listen to Fades again. It wasn't my favorite of the C-A discs I've heard back when it came out, but I should revisit it.

Fades is just stunning album. Maybe my favourite C-A album.

Just listened again to Fades and "I'm Just Afraid". This song is either sung by a transsexual (vocalist called 'Sacha') or by the most genuinely fascinating deep female baryton I heard in a very long time, anyhow the chorus is amongst the most memorable I came across recently.

The Organ UK just published a glowing "stream of consciousness" write up on the announcement...
"There are fewer things more exciting in terms of music at the moment, a new slice of Cheer Accident landed here a couple of days back, we promised not to say anything until today. It is a love untainted and you never quite know – you do know that whatever Cheer Accident do it will be good, have they ever let us us down? You know it will be good, you know it won’t be quite what you were expecting, you know they’re not going to be on autopilot – they’re never on autopilot – you know never to think you know what to expect, you keep thinking surely they can’t do it again and they always damn well do. They have to be the best band out there right now…"

Same here, they're doing a weird thing with download, 3 tracks every month.

I used to subscribe, getting a track every month was great, but it never felt like I ever got an actual album, it was a large collection of individual tracks. I dropped out and buy each release when it comes out. I'll see how I feel about it mid next year.

I mean... What did you expect?

I guess you just prefer hearing music in album format the first time you hear it? Of course, most people (especially pre-millenials) enjoy getting a full album of new music - but that's kind of based on old traditions of necessity (bands had to book a studio and record as much as they could fit on the limits of the physical medium). I enjoy that, but I also enjoy new forms of consumption.

I love getting a full pro-quality track every month. And not all of them have ended up on albums - there are a whole lot of awesome C-AX songs that haven't been released outside the subscription (also, it's impressive that nobody has leaked the tracks on YouTube).

Oh I know its me, I wasn't expecting anything else and I hope this works for the band. It just doesn't work for me personally.

I don't believe any of the pieces that appear on "Fringements One" were featured as songs of the month (I am a subscriber - but I haven't checked everything). The one-sheet goes in to some detail about how this one differs from their other releases: http://skingraftrecords.com/one_shee..._one_sheet.pdf

It reminds me just a bit of the You Fantastic! "Homesickness" album.

The three December digital tracks just went up at Bandcamp. There is a premiere at "I Heart Noise"...

    - copied from Facebook:
I Heart Noise reconnects with CHEER-ACCIDENT after a long absence - and premieres THREE NEW TRACKS from their new album "Fringements One"!!!
Read and hear all about it:
    https://ihrtn.net/premiere-cheer-acc...inntrialtaint/

    - The December tracks are:
    20. Weather Report
    21. Shaft
    22. Salvation Army Salad

Note: "Fringements One" is currently a CD-only release. If you order the CD (or the digital edition) via bandcamp you will receive an immediate download of the unlocked tracks. Then, the DIGITAL ALBUM will add THREE TRACKS per MONTH until complete. The physical CD version contains the complete album from the get-go.

Really enjoyed listening through the CD recently! It's unlike any of their other albums. Kinda reminds me of Cool Clown Ground in some ways. It's like a behind-the-scenes collage, revealing that things might be even stranger than we imagined.

I was rummaging around the old hard drive today and it coughed up this print ad that I drew up for Cheer-Accident's "Introducing Lemon" way back in 2003.

Thanks for sharing! With my favorite artists, I'm a completionist collector. So, now to find something with that printed in it...

Also, I suppose it might be appropriate to mention this here: https://disproof.bandcamp.com/album/...ithout-a-title

It's a little passion project album I just released. Thymme from CHEER-AX lent a hand (well, two hands and two feet) on one track. It will eventually be on Spotify, etc. If you aren't willing to pay but really want to hear it, send me a PM - I have some download codes I can give out.

It's very good. Chicago XX, I mean. But it doesn't really stray away from their recent string of song-based stuff which basically started with Fear Draws (or indeed The Why Album plus What Sequel?) and as such gets to be not "just" another but YET another fine achievement for the band. I still miss Alex Perkolup's bottom-solid-heavy bass foundation, but Jeff Libersher's hand on quirky pop/rock art makes up for it. They're still one of the most generally interesting current bands I know of.

If I didn't already have and love Fear Draws, No Ifs, & Putting Off Death then it would probably have had a bigger impact on me. It's more of the same great stuff.

^ Let's face it; there's more overly obvious proggy-prog on Fear Draws Misfortune.
