I cannot justify this in any way
We walked arm in arm with madness, and every little breeze whispered of the secret love we had for our disease
Codona did a version of this as part of a medley on their first album.

At least according to the credits. I like it, but I can't even make out a hint of the tune.
^ One of the most powerful, emotive songs ever written. Hard to listen to without tearing up.

Actually, this song from the former Mr. Olivia Hussey (and the +1 of Love Live Life +1, to bring this back round to prog) has been in my rotation a lot recently:
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883...
How about Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Wave"

This has been in my head for a while.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.
Since the criteria was "song" I eliminated classical music without vocals.
Johnny Cash - "Ring of Fire", "Folsom Prison Blues", heck just about every JC song
Bottle Rockets - "1,000 Dollar Car", "Indianapolis", plenty more from this alt-country group
Blues standards performed by the likes of Mississippi Fred McDowell, RL Burnside, John Lee Hooker, Jorma Kaukonen.
Ricky Martin - Livin' La Vida Loca... if this had come out in the 70's when I was playing in bands with horns it would have gone over big.
You say Mega Ultra Deluxe Special Limited Edition Extended Autographed 5-LP, 3-CD, 4-DVD, 2-BlueRay, 4-Cassette, five 8-Track, MP4 Download plus Demos, Outtakes, Booklet, T-Shirt and Guitar Pick Gold-Leafed Box Set Version like it's a bad thing...
since i don't consider Steely Dan rock, i'd say Aja..
"She said you are the air I breathe
The life I love, the dream I weave."
Unevensong - Camel
It would probably be this most of the time. Eric Dolphy/Jitterbug Waltz and FZ/Twenty Small Cigars is up there too.

"No Love Dying" by Gregory Porter is high on my list. This guy is possibly the best male vocalist since Sam Cooke and Nat King Cole, his songs and performances are uplifting and heartfelt to a level that is very rare these days, and his band is faultless. The song is off the [I]Liquid Soul[I] album, but this is a live performance (Polar Music Festival):
I won't post video here (because it is a "Rock" song), but here is a link to a performance of Sting's "It's Probably Me" at the same festival; Porter absolutely OWNS the song (like Hendrix owned "Watchtower"), and by the time it ends you can readily observe that Sting agrees!
There’s a fine line between angry and grumpy. Angry isn’t nice but grumpy is funny.
