And neither is JttCotE a rock and roll work, hardly even a "rock" one as such - unlike Yes albums. It's certainly true that salòn-kitsch "pop-classical" crossover (check Vollenweider, Ekseption, Sky, A.L. Webber, War of the Worlds, Andersson/Ulveau's Chess, Nigel Kennedy, Vanessa Mae, Dee Palmer) found main appeal with an adult audience mostly into musicals, lite crooning or entertainment music in general. There's little doubt that Journey and Myths and Legends found huge sales, but there are no records of any Wakeman release ever actually turning 15 million copies.

He made that single solid album, though - Wives. Where some contents at least remind of rock music.

^^^ Yes but Journey and Arthur are absolutely magnificent salòn-kitsch "pop-classical" crossovers!

^ Good for you. I think the first Sky album does a better musical job, but I agree that those two Wake titles at least are a bit more entertaining. Altogether, though, I find the particular genre of salòn-kitsch "pop-classical" crossover almost as artistically attractive as the pan-flute-mood-for-lovers one.

The title, at least, makes sense (the Pope awarded that title to Henry VIII, and Henry VIII and subsequent monarchs kept it even after the split from Catholicism).

Henry, glad you popped in to the thread. You usually have some credible sales information. What do you make of the claim in the OP that 6 Wives sold 15 million copies? I'm highly skeptical as are some of the other folks here.

I don't know, but it seems unlikely. It went Gold in the US and charted better in the UK. 15 million would have to be a worldwide figure, but even then it seems too much of a stretch.

"Farandol" (properly spelled "Farandole") is a composition by Georges Bizet, and is indeed quoted in "Catherine Howard."

even up to 1984 (curiously released in 1981) I find a lot to enjoy after that it starts getting fairly spotty though.

Well, considering how easy it is to find old copies of Journey at Goodwill, you'd think it was a Tijuana Brass record..

I think his readings ruined - or at least severely diminished - my enjoyment of the b-ray. Bad - would have preferred the David Hemmings approach - and BB is a great actor - wonder why no more care was put into his participation.
