    Very relaxing, James.

This was just a little futzing around last night over an old groove, but I'm trying to getting motivated to start doing more ambient meets drum and bass grooves.

More ambiance over grooves, this time lifting the bass line from The Man Who Waved at Trains.

Mixed down a longer version of that play on The Man Who Waved at Trains.

Thanks. Trying to get motivated to start composing again, creating compelling grooves to drone over and create something new sounding.

Hi James, I think I've seen the EHX Superego+ on your board. Would you recommend getting it? Does it do anything really unique or is it just a drone machine? Thanks.

  12. #262
It's a drone machine, but one I couldn't live without. Between the superego+ and pog2, I use my volume pedal very little anymore. Aside from drones, the main selling point of the SE+ is swells. Set the attack long, and turn the dry signal all the way out, and you get beautiful sustaining swells. And with the layers knob, you can control how many drones you can stack. This is a great, short video showing the swelling and stacking features.

It also has onboard effects - everything you could want to process your drones - and an effects loop.

(Andy's effects settings in this video - filter with the rate at noon and the depth at 9 o'clock - are what I use mostly. They give the drones such a lovely sound (which you can hear in the video of course )

^^^^ Thanks for the advice James, I will likely get it at some point.

Had a Squier strat neck of dubious quality laying around (bought it off reveb for $40 because it was $40), so I decided to make a fretless guitar, because I've never had or played one and it seemed like a good idea.

It's important to note that I am lazy and do things the easiest way, regardless of how much work that creates in the end.

Pulled the frets, filled the slots with styrene plastic strips and Gorilla Glue. Sanded that smooth. Made a masking tape damn, poured in a glob of Gorilla Epoxy, let it set. Spent a day sanding. It is now this.

The piece at the top of this page is really nice. Stuff going on, but not too busy. A difficult balance in ambient pieces.
I've got the original SuperEgo. It's very handy for getting a guitar or bass to drone on like a synth.

Thanks! Just came by this thread for the first time in a while to post a little thing from instagram last night, this was a nice surprise.

Pedalboard has undergone more transformation, but I like where it's at now.

Great demo here from Anne Sulikowski

Anne's demos are great. I feel like DBA stuff is another level of sounds that I'm not ready for yet.

For anyone into ambient guitar I would recommend listening to George Johnson's work on YT

It all sounds incredible! Mood music. It seems to me that such melodies are best listened to when the mood is disgusting, there is fatigue. Such music will help you relax and tune your thoughts to constructiveness. I need to keep my links, I will listen when I need it.
