Did they tour when Love Beach was released?

From what I found online, no. Their final 70's concerts were in March 1978. Love Beach was recorded that summer and released in November.

Remember the original LP had the insert where you could buy the short shorts that said "Love Beach" on them? Did they reproduce that for the new version? An essential part of the package IMHO.

I hate that kind of revisionism!

I always regretted not buying the shorts or shiny jacket! I unfortunately sold (or maybe threw out) my vinyl Love Beach (bought on the day of its release) a long time ago. So, I no longer have the tour gear advertisement.

I never saw that insert. I feel deprived.

If anyone has an original insert and can scan and upload, much mirth and thank yous will follow.

And I agree with Jeff: would have been cool to buy the jacket. It would be a hit at Prog fests.

Here's the ad in all its glory. The other side is a promo for ELP's previous albums.

What do the liner notes say? Is there anything interesting that hasn't been already mentioned previously?

For the sake of the album, can someone take down this thread?

It's too bad the actual LP couldn't have had the animated cover somehow.

I listened to this album today from start to finish. If you ignore the trash lyrics/vocals concentrating only on the music then it isn't too bad. Emerson still manages to insert some fairly interesting parts into the pop sound. Palmer plays pretty solid. There is guitar synth. Yamaha GX-1. It might be worth including mixes of all tracks sans vocals on one of these annual re-releases.

That insert is probably the only reason I own Love Beach on LP. It was certainly worth three euros.

Got my lp copy a couple months back. Paid a buck.. because it's Love Beach the record was in mint condition... plus it included the insert!

Now that I know that there is an insert, the next time I see Love Beach for $1.00 (which I see often), I'll see if the insert is inside. If it is, I'll buy it and the insert can then hang out with my School's Out paper panties.

Same here. I bought the album used shortly after it came out (guess the original owner didn't like it very quickly). Just checked and, damn, the insert is missing. Now I must have it.

I remember back in the day when this album came out. I must have looked at it a hundred times at the local Sound Warehouse, pondering the purchase. Have to admit, it was the cover, every time, which cause me to buy something else. In fact one time I ended up buying Spectral Mornings. Lol

'Canario' is decent, the music of 'Memoirs...' has its moments. But there's nothing especially exciting or inventive about either track, IMHO.

The rest of the album is really a mystery. They certainly had the ability to put together quality, melodic songs as things like 'Lucky Man' and 'From The Beginning' show. And yet they fell flat on their face here.
