    Porcupine Tree Book

I thought this might be of interest to any PT / SW fans here...

Rocket88 announce the first in-depth study of one of England’s most enigmatic and engaging bands, Time Flies the Story of Porcupine Tree. The second book by Rich Wilson, author of the acclaimed Lifting Shadows, the Authorised biography of Dream Theater, Time Flies describes the genesis of Porcupine Tree from founder Steven Wilson’s bedroom through their entire seventeen year career and ten studio albums.

Drawing on original and archive interviews with band members, friends and people connected to Porcupine Tree, this unauthorised biography offers a perfectly complete critical look at arguably the UK’s last great prog rock band.

The book will be published in the autumn, but fans can register now - and get the chance to have their names printed in the book - only at porcupinetreebook.com
ONE BOOK, TWO EDITIONS The book will be available in two versions, both produced to the highest standards. The Classic edition will be a 300+ page hardback presented in a choice of four different cover designs. The Signature edition will come in a specially designed presentation box, be signed and numbered by the author, and include 3 previously unseen, numbered, 10x8 photographs which will be exclusive to the book.

You can register your interest in the book at http://www.porcupinetreebook.com

    Thanks

Had me until "unauthorised". Have to wait until I hear it's accurate.
Anyone read "Lifting Shadows"? Other than Rich?

I'd very much like to buy this as long as its not too expensive. A softback edition without any frills would be fine for me, not paying for extra packaging.

A fair shout. But to reassure anyone, although the band haven't contributed directly to the book, I have spoken to over 40 people for this project, so there is plenty of new information in there. Authorised is often a nice way of saying "sanitised" too!!

You mean to say that you don't want the 5.1 surround sound of the audio book edition along with bonus interviews that will be packaged with it?

I would certainly be interested in this. Would there be a Kindle edition? I have become a Kindle junkie.

No plans for Kindle as yet unfortunately. But thanks to everyone who has signed up. We will keep you updated and let you have details of the discount and when pre-orders start being taken.

Just to flag that the next couple of days are the last chance to register and to obtain a discount. You can also get your name printed in the book. I just didn't want anyone to miss the opportunity of the discount really! The publishers are looking to start taking orders very shortly.

I tried registering a second time after not receiving any email to complete the subscription process. Hopefully it's just me. I'm very much interested in attaining a copy, as they may very well be my favorite band. As a DT fanboy, as well, I'll likely end up ordering Lifting Shadows in addition.

EDIT: The absolute last thing I want to be, Mr. Wilson, is a bothersome hassle, as I very much enjoy your writing for Prog magazine (presumably, you're the same Rich Wilson). As stated above, though, I attempted to register twice and haven't received any confirmation email as of yet. If nothing else, I at least want to make sure I'm the only one with such a problem. If it's not inordinately inconvenient to you, I can PM you my email address. Regardless of whether or not you have the time to respond, I do appreciate your thoughtful consideration in taking time out of your busy schedule to hear me out. Keep up the good work, my friend, and long live Prog!

I registered too but didn't receive a confirmation. I'm assuming the email confirmation will happen when the book is released.

Oh, okay, you're probably right, mozo-pg. Apparently this fanboy here needs to attain (and retain) a modicum of patience.

Nothing in my spam - double checked and they have my right email address.

I went back to my registration and there was a box to click PT Book I didn't click before - now I have the confirmation. PG - you may want to check the website again.

I ordered a couple of their books - the one on Talk Talk which looks very nice, and another on Nick Drake which is from the 1980s it seems, the first attempt at a bio.

I too have the Talk Talk book (the deluxe version in a cassette) and the Nick Drake-book. The latter has indeed a ©1986 in it, but was released by rocket88 in 2012. 1986 was the year Rasmussen published his work privatelly in Danish.

Website says November 2017 in the UK, possibly later elsewhere.

FWIW, the Nick Drake book is really superb. Certainly on a par with Ian MacDonald's essay in "The People's Music".
Haven't had time to really explore the Talk Talk one but it seems very well put together.
I'll probably get the PT book although I'm more interested in SW's post-PT solo career.

I should have checked myself but thanks for clarifying! I figure the November date is world wide as nothing else was specified.

Not ordering, ridiculously overpriced. I'll wait for a reasonably priced soft back edition.
