Soleil Zeuhl Festival announced for Sept 18th in Paris

Copied from Udi's post on FB

    Very excited by this.
    SOLEIL ZEUHL festival
    Wednesday, September 18th, 2013
We are happy to announce the first Soleil Festival, with 4 bands playing the same evening :
UNIT WAIL / NEOM / SCHERZOO / SETNA
The place is the well-known “Instants Chavirés” in Montreuil, a very close eastern suburb of Paris.
It is very easily accessible by tube from Central Paris (about 20 minutes from “Châtelet les
Halles”) and also by car (a few hundred meters from the “Boulevard Périphérique” – the circle road around Paris). Please see below the map of the area.
Hour : not yet determined (probably 5.30 pm or so). End of the last show around 11.15 pm
(the hall has to be empty by midnight).
There is a bar inside where you can have drinks and maybe small food. By all means,
within short walking distance, there are several snacks + restaurants.
Capacity of the hall : 70 seats, a small place!
See here, the (non-exhaustive) list of bands who played there, some are probably on your
CD shelves (personally I attended shows of Guigou Chenevier, Ruins, Yang..) :
    http://www.instantschavires.com/

    Admission : 28 euros
Please drop us an email ( soleilzeuhl@gmail.com ) mentioning your name
and forename & we’ll send you a Paypal invoice.
After payment, we’ll send you a confirmation with a reservation number. Please print our
mail and come with it (if you forget, no big matter, we’ll have the list).
As probably some of you will stay in Paris on Thursday 19th, before heading to the RIO on
Friday in the early morning (as I will do), we’ll provide everyone (by mail) a free guide of
the records shops in Paris – of course centered on avant-prog, RIO etc.

This festival is for us an important test, even somewhat frightening as we have no
experience into organizing live events. If it is successful it might open the way for a yearly
event connected with the RIO fest in Carmaux, of course including in the line-up other
bands. We already have a few ideas for the future (bands, location) but, at first, the 2013
event has to be a positive experience. By positive we mean human & musical, the finance
being in (minor) loss even with all 70 seats sold.

That’s it for the moment, all future announcements will be made here + posts on forums,
Facebook etc , so stay tuned J

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Any parisian can help with the budget hotels nearby?
So far I have found 3:
The formula1 which looks like a nice choice but no single rooms for the date.
Another one is Mister Bed City Bagnolet - 2 Avenue du Général de Gaulle - about 1 kilometre from the venue, but seems like a very shoddy neighbourhood- can anyone comment on this location?
And the last one I found - about 1.5 kilometres from the venue - Hotel Tamaris 14 Rue des Maraichers paris -
Didnt find much info on this one, but at least no reviewer had any problems with the neighbourhood...

I snore so badly, last time I went to a hostel with shared dormitory I woke up every 10 minutes to the sound of someone imploring on the verge of crying "Pleeeeease stop snoring" :-P
So unless you are deaf (and then the whole idea of a zeuhl fest would be futile), I cant recommend it

A great news about the location of the festival : I just signed the deal a couple of hours, the event has moved into a very friendly place : http://www.lezebre.com/programmation...scherzoo-neom/

It's inside Paris : tube Stations "Belleville" or "Couronnes", a popular area with a lot of cheap accomodations & budget restaurants.
150 seats on 2 floors, an old theater/small circus, with a bar.
SZ site will be updated tomorrow.

Now that the hall is definitive, those of you who already booked will receive the Paypal invoices within the next few days.
Many thanks for all the support we get on this somewhat stressing event !

    Five weeks to go

Planning a visit to the excellent Souffle Continu record store before hand (unless Alain tells us these will be vendors in the hall >> in which case, I'll go to SC the day after), which happens to be in the same area (three subway station from there)

Has anybody already their hotel accomodations? (and if yes, where??) I must say I've been a lazy B. and have yet to do so...

We can foresee to grab a bite and a few drinks before or after the festival.

Was the Hotel Des Vosges full? I think you spoke of that one a few months ago..

Since I'm not going to Carmaux and Le Zebre is quite close to the Gare Du Nord and Gare de l'Est, I'll be taking the train down (yet to reserve as well) from Brussels

I'll head out to an art gallery south of Ile Notre Dame the next morning
