Hopefully Aymeric will reply, but we know "Days" was a holdover from the '78 sessions. But I could see why Steve, Chris, and Alan would sort of look confused at it. As in, "What the hell do you expect us to do with this?"

IMO "Everybody Loves You" and "Hear It" could probably both have been developed into something bigger and Yes-y given enough time, but the only really Yes-y song on Song of Seven is the title track. If Jon had brought that to the sessions I can't imagine those guys not wanting to sink their teeth into it.

But I get the sense it was more a case of Jon bringing lyrics to what the other three had been developing. I think I read that Steve in particular had no patience for the "airy fairy crap" Jon was spouting and -- if I recall the Dan Hedges book quote correctly -- "told Jon what he thought of him." It's no wonder Jon walked out.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

I asked Anderson this when I interviewed him but didn't get a clear answer. We talked about the 1979 debacle, and he was very critical of Roy Thomas Baker in particular (although he didn't explain - nor did I ask about this because I wasn't aware at the time - why he hired Baker for a later solo album of his, and was highly complimentary of him), and I ventured that a Yes album with "Song of Seven" on it would have had at least one very good track, or something to that effect, but he didn't give a precise answer, just vaguely concurred, although I remember getting the impression that "Song Of Seven" wasn't part of the songs he'd brought forward in Paris or at the early 1980 rehearsals. After all, "Song of Seven" was a highly personal song about how life is organised in 7-year cycles (and he did leave Yes after his own 5th 7-year cycle had run its course), so likely not intended for Yes.

Didn't a demo of Some are Born show up in the outtakes of the Paris sessions at some point? I never listed to those outtakes more than once or twice (there is a reason why they never made it onto an album!) but I thought I came across that somewhere. Yes, I remember the Hedges book, it said something like "One day Jon started questioning some financial things....and Steve told Jon what he thought of him, and Jon left..."

I would love to hear what Yes would have done with "For You, For Me."

Dull??? Sounded great to me. He tried a Ric, but said the Jazz just sounded better.

Did you ask him if he considers conception as "0", not birth, as many Chinese do? That might explain why he has been thrown off what he considers to be his cycles.

No, I didn't ask him that - what I know of what "Song Of Seven" is about I learned later. As I said, my reference to "Song Of Seven" came in the part of the interview where we had discussed the band's creative decline in the late Seventies. It was just me suggesting that with material like "Song of Seven" and the Howe-Squire-White-dominated "Drama" material in progress, there might have been a very strong "classic line-up" album rather than those mostly appalling Paris sessions.

Wakeman - in a new interview - talks about the HOF induction and why he decided to go on like that:

I guess. I didn’t like or dislike it. But I did find it a waste that Squire’s widow did not have time left to speak.

That kind of bothered me as well.
