You discovered music here?? The old PE was a music site???

I think amongst everything else that was going on at the time I must have missed that...

I miss the periodic "what is prog" threads that would go on until shut down after someone lost gray matter over some distinction of one persons definition of prog vs anothers.

Actually I would argue that the topic is a good one. And I miss people telling me why I am not a true prog fan... Seriously.
I got people to use my jokes in their signatures. I've never felt so loved.

^ my usual answer is that Prog is like porn... I can't define it but I know it when I hear (or sea) it. There's a lot of prog in stoner metal, if you ask me (which is you haven't)

Yeah, but those were also the years.too.. the mega excitement of the era... PA was exciting, still growing and terribly dangerous and exciting place ... PE was all of that as well, but I simply didn't manage to get out of PA (spent a bloody enormous amount of time in the DB and in the forum) to actually start posting until 2007

Luckily, I've grown a life since

I dislike it, since it reminds me that I still spend way to much time on here.

One thing about the old PE I never could stomach...all the damn vampires! [cue a song by The Doors, played by them or someone else]

I hate to be the pedant (oh who am I kidding, this is PE) but on the soundtrack it was Echo & the Bunneymen.

In the early 2000's there were a group of members on P.E. that were historically mind boggling and forever offering up the most insightful information on Prog bands . I used to read their posts and my mouth would drop. Some of these Prog historians are still currently members of P. E. However quite a few of those members disappeared over time. I would reference their posts instead of surfing the net. Around 2004, this place was hilarious. The debates were so incredibly funny and full of creative sarcasm. Sometimes the administrator would comment...."Alright, I'm going to give you one warning and that's it, thread will be closed" And then the next pattern would be members posting...."Who me?" and a confrontation with the administrator would begin with several members expressing their opinions. It was like "Romper Room" drama and better than watching a movie . The administrator, the members, everybody was cool. These debates that got out of hand were very educational. They were great times

Huh, I never noticed that the posting number started working. I know I probably have about double what is showing. Now I'm really motivated to get my count up. U think I'll stop posting long comments and live by the "brevity is the soul of wit" Philosphy.

On the other hand, I never could shut my mouth. Maybe I'll just take it a post at a time.

I got kicked off Kim Mitchells old website for commenting too much... I think he still has a Canadian version of a restraining order - which is I have to stay at least 3 hockey rinks distance away from his website.

The simplicity of the quote feature is the only thing I really miss.
Interviewer of reprobate ne'er-do-well musicians of the long-haired rock n' roll persuasion at: www.velvetthunder.co.uk and former scribe at Classic Rock Society. Only vaguely aware of anything other than music.

Thanks for this, Trane, I was unaware of this handy feature. Now I can tell more people how wrong they are much more quickly and efficiently.
