    Pete Sinfield-Still [Expanded edition]

Didn't know this had been released as a 2 CD edition in 2011. Neither did I know it featured the great John Wetton RIP

The reviews are positive so for fans of early KC I guess this should be an auto buy?

Great album, featuring lots of Crimson alumni. Sinfield's voice is weak, but tolerable, and it's worth sitting through his warbling to get to the brief moments when Greg Lake takes over, which sounds glorious.

Peculiar album, but the title track never fails to give me the goosebumps.

    A wonderful track.

Does Lake sing on anything else beside "Still"?

He also sings on the chorus of "Wholefood Boogie." Although that one is...not so glorious.

Thanks! I'll skip this album, since I have "Still" on Lake's compilation CD, and I'm not all that find of Sinfield's voice.

For me its the opposite, the weakest parts of the album are Lake`s vocals on Still (and wholefood boogie is... not a highlight)
I actually like Sinfield low key vocals, they work for me.

Sinfield's voice sounds weak and nasally to me. Lake was my all-time favourite vocalist.

Apart from the title track I like "The Song Of Sea Goat". Sinfield ain't a good vocalist but somehow his voice works on those two tracks.

Well, perhaps I'm the only one who bought the 2CD reissue mentioned in the original post... Anyway, here's my takeaway: the sound is great, at least equal to my Japanese mini-LP-style CD, and much better than the shrill "Stillusion". It has both bonus tracks from "Stillusion" and early/alternate mixes of every track but one. The early mix of "House of Hopes and Dreams" was used on "Stillusion" and is noticeably different. There are two early mixes of the title track, also with noticeable differences. Also, "Envelopes of Yesterday" doesn't have the crinkled tape dropout problem toward the end of the song that plagued previous versions on LP and CD. Other early mixes seem very close to the ones used on the album. Incidentally, I have no problem with Sinfield's voice, and have always considered that this is a wonderful album. Bought it as soon as it was released.

just picked this up recently and enjoyed it allright but I was more intrigued by some posters for live performances apparently backed by mel Collins ian Wallace and Boz. any recordings of these shows or even just a setlist? would be curious if they would pull out some crimson tunes Boz is there to sing if Sinfield felt like taking a break.

I am not tuned off by Sinfields vocals and the contrast between him and Lake in Still really helps the song
but to say Lake's vocals are the weakest parts

Dime used to have a Sinfield live show from Spain, from many years later.

Ha may be a bad choice of words in my part -
Strongest vocals but with the least appeal to me
